Prowl and Jazz do sniff training with hot rod when he’s little so they can let him out of the animal enclosure more because this way the smell of mechs doesn’t immediately set him off

They actually did have a sparkling before finding hot rod and now Jazz has made it Prowl’s job to explain to Streetwise every night why Hot Rod is allowed to sleep in Green’s enclosure but not him.

Streetwise doesn’t really understand what a spark eater is until he’s older and then basically views it more like Hot Rod has a serious medical condition than his carrier brought home a demon from hell like most other autobots see it as

Streetwise was someone who was always distracted by food and hot rod is someone who has to eat under very specific circumstances so as they get older there main way of showing affection is throwing food at each other. No streetwise didn’t rob a morgue to get the servo he’s trying to feed his younger brother shut up

If you need context, my sister has been guessing transformer names and there is a reoccurring theme.

Hot rod and streetwise both know hot rod is prowl’s favorite and streetwise kinda pities his brother for it. Jazz is the favorite parent to both of them but for sort of opposite reasons. He pays more attention to Streetwise and leaves Hot Rod alone

Prowl has had hot rod killing cons since before he could reasonably form sentences

Jazz really doesn’t like looking into the animal enclosure with their youngest sparkling in it so he’s very into getting the sniff training done so at minimum he can hold hot rod in his arms without fear of his kid mauling him

When hot rod is an adult he’s mostly able to act like a normal bot without doing anything too drastic unless something starts pushing his buttons. He puts on a smile and try’s to be annoying so people keep their distance and don’t get close enough to hurt him. Prowl thinks this is fine because Hot Rod is basically the perfect killing machine that he raised him to be and Jazz can see the cracks at the edges but also it’s lowkey hypocritical of him to call his kid out because he knows hot rod probably learned how to try and do that from watching him.

Hot Rod’s illusion of cool will never be as perfect as Jazz because first of he’s his own person and second of all he sees the world around him very differently than Jazz does because everyone he is friends with can easily be prey if he was out of it enough.

He doesn’t drink for two reasons, 1 spark eaters can’t get drunk on high grade and 2 he doesn’t even want to risk it.

Drift originally assumed the refusal to drink even a sib might have been a troubled history with high grade when they had first met before he knew hot Rod’s secret

Ratchet still restrains hot rod into adulthood during check ups not for his own safety but because hot rod feels more comfortable if he knows he can’t bite or rip into anyone. First aid discovering hot rod has 4 tentacles coming out of his back during a check up also caught him off guard but he hadn’t put the puzzle together yet.

Honestly Rodimus was so medically weird on the lost light before the other medics found out he was a spark eater

Also prowl made sure Megatron ended up on that ship hoping Megatron would push Rodimus into going nuts and just eating Megatron on the ship or at least feel less weird about prowl asking if that they were going to execute Megatron at the end of the trial he would prefer the method be feeding him to a spark eater aka Rodimus. And Rodimus’s main complaint when Prowl asked was that megatron’s a really big mech to try and eat.
