Los Angeles street artists should take a shot at getting a commission to do a utility box piece in the city’s Council District 2. That includes North Hollywood, my backyard, which already has some cool works sprinkled among the many theaters, clubs and restaurants of the NoHo Media & Entertainment District. Looks like the submission deadline is April 30, at the URL above, www.streetboxart.comÂ
I love that the city is helping do this, turning ugly boxes into street-side galleries. With the imminent arrival of 5G super-fast mobile, and its need for lots and lots of refrigerator-sized mobile stations, should be lots of opportunity to do more of this stuff for lots of artists. Would be great if helping pay for that artwork became part of the city licensing of these boxes.Â
