I still think it would have been best to kill Will off at the start of s5. Would have made such a big impact and gotten rid of their most problematic actor early. And fuck, Joyce reacting would have sold it. Her cutting Vecna's head off at the end would have had so much more impact. Everyone would be fighting with fire inside, for revenge and not just survival. It would have been amazing, and set the stakes really high, really early. And then they'd have a heck of a lot more time to nail down the plot without all that queer baiting getting in the way of the story
