Hereās what I found interesting. They were filming s5 during the whole year (Jan-Dec) and, as many of us know, they claimed the ep8 wasnāt finished on time(?). We donāt know for sure how true/false this statement is, but I want to drag your attention to the seasons of the year: hereās ššsummer.
And hereās a scene (pic 1) they shot in that period, according to the docās narrative. This scene indeed exists in 5x08 closer to the end of the main plot (mid of ep). What does it tell us?
That they considered seasons of the year filming. They needed green and sunny time for summer Camazotz. And filming parts of 5x08 in summer stresses that they did shoot inconsistently, which is understandable bc of outside locations.
ā ļø Red sheets in summer (pic 1) and in December (last pic)
Now thatās š how Atlanta looks in December when presumably they had the last day and shot the basement scene. The trees on the shots: dead/green/orange. Atlantaās weather Dec 2024:
72°F (Fahrenheit) is 22.222°C (Celsius). 22°F (Fahrenheit) is -5.556°C (Celsius).
So ig it was our common misinterpretation that they didnāt finish 5x08 chronologically. But if they didnāt have the plot for e8 finished, it was around the middle of the year. Could it be unfinished by that time? Maybe. However, we also know that theyāve started working on s5 during s4. Which makes the whole preparation process longer than those ā3 years of working exclusively just on s5.
Both facts: the very long period of preparation and that they were shooting summer when they needed summer say that they knew when they needed which weather from the beginning to the end of s5, they could calculate it and decide when what happens, with āwrittenā script or without it. It goes for all episodes. Mind you: for all episodes with inconsistent weather during the whole s5. So couldnāt they film the opening scene for the late spring epilogue without red leaves? (on the backlot they built; and Iām not mentioning even re-colouring if it was a continuity mistake) I guess eventually itās for us to judge and just time will tell.
