He is also denying the gay origins and subtext of the song. The original songwriters and originators of the group are deceased. The current group performs are new except for the lead singer Willis the sell-out.

It is not explicitly gay because anything explicitly gay was not allowed at the time. The lyrics were intentionally written to have a dual meaning: gay&sexual/straight/celebratory.

Thus, when the song was CULTURALLY APPROPRIATED by major league baseball teams, the gay undertone of the lyrics was invisible to the straight sports audience. YMCA became a well-liked popular song universally enjoyed at weddings, bar mitzvahs, and sporting events. Which is why the trump campaign APPROPRIATED it for trump’s political rallies.

This is also the reason a co-author and MAGA are attempting to STRAIGHTWASH the song by denying its original inspiration and popularity in GAY DISCOS. Just another example of how CULTURAL APPROPRIATION serves the interest of the dominant class by ERASING the CULTURE & HISTORY of minority groups.
