#stop criminalization

A Request for Help from Dean’s Friends and Fam:

We are reaching out in urgent and earnest care and concern to the trusted and valued family, friends and community of Dean Steed. Our comrade, activist, and friend Dean is in need your immediate support.

Dean is currently facing a mandatory minimum of 1 - 10 years in prison. On March 22, Dean was stopped by two white officers for a broken tail light. Dean was instructed to exit the vehicle. The officer’s proceeded to search the car and Dean was arrested immediately. Upon arrival at the jail, Dean was placed into solitary confinement and held there until his release. Dean is currently being charged with a felony for Possession of THC Oil, and two misdemeanors (Possession of Marijuana Less 1 oz and Possession and Use of Drug Paraphernalia). Dean returns to court on May 17 and he is in desperate need of legal representation.

Dean is not only fighting for his freedom, he is fighting for his health. Dean is a Trans man, with worsening Multiple-sclerosis. If imprisoned, accessing regular testosterone and other medicine-related to his MS, could become very difficult, if not impossible.That is why we are asking for immediate financial support with the exorbitant legal fees Dean will have to pay in order to remain safe, with his family and community.
