finale was so laughably bad im actually cracking up
75 days until byler! I'm doing a 75 days 75 theories thing -- one byler or st theory every day until vol1 drops.
so lets see! I'm gonna start with some basic stuff to pace myself lol. theres tons to analyze but not many theories haha.
3x06 the billy flashback features an abusive dad with a baseball bat. the baseball bat=abusive dad thing isn't my theory, not sure who made it, but I haven't seen that piece of evidence mentioned yet, so I thought I'd point it out, because todays theory is the baseball bat vs nail bat analysis!
its been said soooo many times before and is even noted on the byler proof slides (which might actually be where it came from??) that baseball bats represent abusive fathers -- from lonnie taking will to a baseball thing to, as I mentioned, billy's memories of his dad involving his dad yelling at him for being a "p*ssy" during a baseball game.
steve's nail bat is also pretty well known! did y'all remember that jonathan made it in s1. same season where lonnie says wills not very good at surviving or whatever I dont have the exact quote right now sorry lol. but! jonathan making the nail bat to save will from the demogorgon = jon going against what his abusive father (baseball bat) says/fighting back.
and steve then using that nail bat (opposite of abusive father) represents him stepping up and going against his douchey actions -- also foreshadowing that he becomes a protective figure for the younger kids (like the opposite of an abusive father). especially considering that a lot of the party (honestly, all but Lucas) have abusive or absent father figures.
will has ALSO been connected to baseball bats (destroying castle byers) and in the trailer we see mike protecting some younger kids... walk with me here... will should reclaim the baseball bat + fight against the upside down, mike should go the steve route and recognize he did douchey things + save younger kids (already tracks w his character bc he jumped off the quarry to save dustins teeth). what im saying is byler uses the nail bat
also them using it in different ways -- will to parallel jon bc they both are fighting back against lonnie, mike to parallel steve and save the people he cares about <3
