Today is Ostomy Awareness Day. In 2013 my mom's bowel ruptured, which led to her having surgery and being fitted with an Ileostomy. In 2016, she had a second surgery, resulting in her ostomy becoming permanent. Many humans around the globe are living with a temporary or permanent ostomy. In many cases an ostomy allows a human to have a healthier, happy life.
