In 1974, Serbian-born conceptual and performance artist, Marina Abramovic, held one of her challenging and best-known show in Studio Morra in Naples. There, she placed an instruction which read: There are 72 objects on the table that one can use on me as desired. Performance. I am the object. During this period I take full responsibility. Duration: 6 hours. For six hours she remained quiet and still while she allowed the audience to manipulate her body and actions without consequences. Among the objects on the table were a feather, a rose, a whip, scissors, a scalpel, a gun and a single bullet. At first, the audience were shy and peaceful, giving her a kiss or a rose. After a while, the atmosphere changed and the audience became aggressive. Various minor sexual assaults were done to her body; her clothes were cut from her with razor blades, her throat slashed so that someone could suck her blood, rose thorns were placed on her belly... One aimed a gun at her but was stopped by another visitor. At the end of her performance, she finally stood up and started making her way towards them but everyone ran away, escaping confrontation. Afterthought: It shudders me to think how far a person could go if they are left to their own devices and without consequences to their actions.

i chose to illustrate a fluffy cat for this piece because i believe the stippling technique beautifully captures the interplay of light and shadow in the cat's fur.
