Alex Kahuamโs "Failure!
A real-time, one-take chamber drama about a man in free fall. No filler. Just psychological pressure, tension, and a slow, painful loss of control.
Alex Kahuam directs with impressive confidence. His timing is sharp and the atmosphere is nailed. He takes a simple setting and makes it feel suffocating. The staging is tight and the story choices are bold, but the one-take is what really does it. It locks you in and gives the whole thing this raw, immediate punch that doesnโt fade fast. Quiet, restrained, and surprisingly strong.
And then thereโs Ted Raimi. Honestly, I didnโt see that coming. Weโre so used to his quirky, high-energy side, and here he goes the complete opposite way. Controlled, serious, and incredibly restrained, with a quiet intensity that hits harder than youโd think. I didnโt know he had this gear. Seeing him outside the horror/oddball lane is genuinely refreshing.
You can feel everyoneโs commitment. One-take filmmaking is a massive gamble, and that tension is baked into every moment.
I really hope Kahuam stays on this path. And Iโm crossing my fingers Raimi gets more chances to play characters like this. Bold, different, and brutally honest.
