❁ ❁ “ You don’t have to say anything anymore...you’ll be fine... ”
It had been only seconds since they sent Miguel back to the Land of the Living, just in time before the sun rose. The entire familia was still in backstage, remorseful over their matriarch mourning over how fatal her esposo was. Her hands gripped tightly around his, lifeless & cold, while bending over to gently rest her body over his. She heard how faint his breaths were, so ghastly that it was nearly impossible to be heard.
With eyes shut tightly as she held back phantom tears, she slowly shook her head in denial, unable to calm her heart over the sight of her husband on the verge of turning into dust. He couldn’t leave her again, not when she was finally going to give him another chance. It was too unfair for her to accept, & she couldn’t accept the reality of never being able to see him again. There was so much that she wanted to say to him, & they weren’t ones to wound his heart anymore.
She wanted to tell him how much she dreaded for him for all these years, how unacceptable it was for their fate to have ended like that, & how much she truly did love him.
While she did prepare for the worst, she still tried to reassure him that everything was going to be alright. It had to be, right? They had gone through all of this...so surely they should have gotten something out of this in the end.
“ We just have to believe in him...no matter what. It’s too soon for us to say goodbye. ”
