Antique Victorian Moss Agate Stickpin Lapel Brooch

Added some vintage stick pins to the shop yesterday, including this Mid Century vintage piece by Anson. It has a horseshoe design with a small sparkling rhinestone. Anson is marked on the bottom of the pin clutch.

Late Victorian 10K yellow gold “lovers knot” stick pin inset with tiny but genuine 0.5 carat white precious opal cabochon. Art nouveau style.

The literal translation of Stickpins is pins... Let’s classify them based on the part they are worn on, so let’s just call them “collar pins”!

In the early 19th century, lapel pins and tie pins (tie pins/tie clips) were universal in a functional sense. They were used to secure ties, pocket squares, handkerchiefs, sailor's knots, bow ties, wraps, etc. These functional trinkets are often made of precious metals, set with gemstones, and are custom-made individually for their owners.
