What is a Mini/Big Bang?

Last month the mods of this blog ran a general interest poll to decide what type of event to run. The votes were split fairly evenly between a Big Bang, and a Mini Bang, and we decided to run a combo event.

How will this work?

There will be two tracks for participants to choose from; a Mini Bang or a Big Bang. Whichever track is picked, will determine the timeline and requirements of their challenge.

Mini Bang Track Requirements:

Mini Bang Writers will be required to submit a fic that is between 10k and 20k words.

Mini Bang Artists will be matched with a Mini Bang Writer and be required to submit between 1 and 3 pieces of art based on the fic.

Big Bang Track Requirements:

Big Bang Writers will be required to submit a fic of minimum 40k words, with no maximum word count.

Big Bang Artists will be matched with a Big Bang Writer and be required to submit between 2 and 5 pieces of art based on the fic.

As of right now, we are only allowing one sign up per person. However that might change if we need to balance the number of writers and artists.

Accepted Types of Art:

Traditional art as long as you are able to submit a high quality scan

Hand drawn digital art

Photo edits/manipulations

GIFs

How we Define a Rarepair:

Any ship that has under 5k works on AO3, excluding cross over works. We are excluding cross over works to account for things like kinktober where the rare pair gets maybe five hundred words of focus.

If you voted in our polls you might have noticed originally we said under 10k fics, but we didn’t realize how much sterek’s popularity skewed the results. To account for such a juggernaut ship, we moved the limit down.

We are leaving sign ups open until a week before the first check in. This is to allow writers a chance to get a head start on their fics, and hopefully reduce the number of writers who have to back out due to unforeseen circumstances.

We are allowing for a writer and artist to sign up as a pre-matched pair! So if you and your mutual want that push to finally work together, you can sign up as a unit.

Rules:

No AI. If a participant is caught using AI, they will be blocked and banned.

The ship you are creating for must have less than 5k works on AO3 (excluding crossovers)

All works must be tagged accurately at the time of summary, and when posting to AO3. (If the tags change between summary and posting, that is fine.)

Sure, Stiles recognizes Peter is hot in the same way all the Hales are, but everything that happened back when he was in high school is a pretty big strike against Peter, despite things being better now. Besides, he and Derek already fit perfectly together, so why would he look anywhere else? The thought of anything with Peter simply doesn't occur to him.

Derek and Peter, as born wolves, know Stiles finds them both attractive through reading his chemosignals. Derek isn't threatened in the least because he knows Stiles wouldn't entertain a single thought of a relationship with Peter, and Peter knows it, too. Outwardly, there's no reason why Steterek should happen at all because they're already in a stable status quo.

But Derek still thinks of that bit of arousal from Stiles and wonders about it. It's an idle thought that pushes him to at least work on repairing his relationship with Peter, which Peter surprisingly doesn't dismiss out of hand. Plus, it'll be good for the pack as a whole.

It's not easy by any stretch of the imagination, especially talking about Laura. To say that watching Peter's memories of his nurse pulling the strings while he was catatonic and out of his mind was rough on both of them would be an understatement, but the distance from the events and Derek's own experience with having his body controlled against his will helped them piece together what really happened that night.

Although there's a hint of "Stiles would like it if we got along better, romantic or not" in the back of their minds, they mostly get better for their own sake and to heal old wounds.

Stiles notices the changes and is glad Derek managed to salvage his relationship with one of his few remaining family members. As Derek is getting along better with Peter, Stiles follows suit, and they spend more time together as a pack. But Stiles still isn't thinking of anything more than that.

Until Derek and Peter are sure that, yeah, there's an undercurrent of something between them that isn't antagonism and goes beyond their old friendship or familial bonds. It's something they can work with and has a firm potential for becoming more.

A Whole Lot of Love

Stiles would do anything for the pack despite thinking he only belongs on the fringes. When he starts to spiral, Derek and Peter realise just what they'd do for him in return.

Peter says "lol no" and breaks all the rules to bring back his darling nephew from the grave because he'll be damned if he lets him rot in ashes.

Yes of course Stiles helps. Peter is the one that goes to tell him in person about the news.

Stiles takes it in for about 5 seconds and then calmly says "so what are we gonna do about it."

The mods of this blog haven’t run a challenge for a while and are getting the urge to run one again. We have once again changed fandoms! This time to Teen Wolf.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but here are our criteria as of now:

Rare Pair is currently defined as: A ship with less than 10k fics on AO3 where they feature as the main ship

Ships that have more than 10k fics as the main ship can be included as the background relationship. They cannot have equal focus as the rare pair or even significant focus.

Poly Ships are included!

Word Count and Timelines will be based on your input! Our options are: Mini Bang (10k minimum words to 20k maximum words and one piece of art), Big Bang (40k minimum words with no maximum word count and three pieces of art), or Reverse Bang (one piece of art and 10k minimum word count with no maximum)
