When Norman isnât performing his duties at the Gym, nor is he out for a walk in Petalburg Woods, he would utilize his time through training his Pokemon. Typically, if he dedicates a full day for just training, heâll go straight to Victory Road. The wild Pokemon there provides a good challenge for his main team. But if heâs planning on training his younger, newer Pokemon, heâll just head on over to the beach by Mr Brineyâs seaside shack.Â
Itâs an ideal place to build up stamina, or to practice some moves without risking too much damage if it (quite literally) blows up. The sand is smooth and soft-- much better at shock absorption than the hard ground. The beach is also large enough that they could keep to the far end without disturbing any of the fishermen. So long as the attack doesnât disturb the local wildlife, they could train there for as long as they wanted.
Today, Norman plans on training his younger Spinda and a Skitty. Both are recent captures, with the Spinda he wishes to incorporate in future Gym battles and the Skitty to be a capable companion for Caroline during the days where heâs unable to return home. He wants them to practice on the moves that they have before moving onto other areas. If theyâre able to execute the moves perfectly, then he considers it as a job well done.
Spinda will work on his Psybeam, while Skitty works on her Double Slap. They have secured a spot on the beach a fair bit away from the shores. Without the fear of disturbing others, Norman had Spinda practice his move first. While the ditzy Pokemon concentrated on the execution time under Normanâs encouragement, Skitty had decided that if sheâs not getting attention, sheâs gonna search for someone who would give her all the pets that she wants.
Like... that human over there with the cap and a fishing pole. With a soft nya, Skitty leaves the pair and makes her way over. It is after Spinda takes a break that Norman realizes heâs one Pokemon short. Looking around reveals that Skitty is gently pawing at a young manâs leg by the shore. With a sigh, the Gym Leader quickly approaches them, and scoops up the kitten.
âWhat have I told you about wandering off on your own?â Norman mildly scolds the feline (who just mews cutely, settling in his hold) before he turns his attention to the other. âIâm sorry if she was disturbing you while you fished.â

With a wide grin, Hau made his way across the rather busy street. The trainer was on his way to meet a good friend of his, and not only that, but he was eating at one of the best restaurants in Alola today! It was none other than Mallow's restaurant on Akala island.
âGood thing we reserved some seats, huh?âÂ
Hau hummed to Hibi, who was floating next to him as they excitedly made their way up to the front doors of the restaurant. There were people waiting in line outside, hoping to get a seat, but since he made a reservation, Hau and his beloved Alolan Raichu were allowed to march right on in.Â
Thankfully this place wasnât too fancy, even though the food was amazing. Hau would just feel awkward having to wear a suit and tie, especially when he was just meeting a good friend. Of course, he tried to make somewhat of an effort to look like he hadnât just been rolling in the dirt. He wore a bit of a fancier outfit, yet still kept his usual style around. Lots of loose-fitting clothing and flowery designs. His hair was up in a bun with a braid holding it in place. Man, his mother is a blessing for teaching him to do his hair. To be fair, she seemed like she enjoys messing around and watching him change hairstyles often, so Hau doubted she minded teaching him.Â
Soon enough, Hau spotted Sun and excitedly made his way over to the table he was seated at. Hibi greeted the other trainer with a high-pitched cry, before floating down in an empty seat while Hau took another.Â
âAlola!â Hau smiled excitedly at the other, giving him the Alolan wave for a greeting. âHow have you been?â
Itâs probably telling that Moon needs more to fill her life with, when Sun coming back feels like the best news sheâs heard in weeks. Not that sheâs lacking things to doâ Moon has her hands full, just training her pokĂŠmon and busying herself with League drudgery.
Champion work is very much the same, day after day. Moon doesnât get all too many challengersâ which is extremely fortunate, in her opinion. Challengers talented enough to make it to Mt. Lanakila, talented enough to beat all four of Alolaâs elite, deserve to face the regionâs real Champion, not his standby. And paperwork isâ well, just paperwork. As per her agreement with Sun, Moon only handles matters of lesser importance, unless in times of crises: administrative cases regarding non-urgent domestic issues; deciding which cases need to be labelled âspecial exceptionâ and expedited, forwarded to Sun himself.
Not that Moon minds the work. She doesnât. At all. Sheâs thankful for it, in fact; Moon doesnât know what sheâd do without it. Itâs just... A little monotonous, is all. And anything that breaks that monotony is reason enough to celebrate.
Well. Not anything. But Moon doesnât see her friends much anymore, what with Hau busy with Kahuna training, and Lillie and Gladion busy with what must surely be Very Important Business, whatever form that takes, and Sun almost always travelling abroad...
Itâs just nice to be able to see her friend again.
They agree to meet at Hauâoli Cityâs ferry terminal for convenienceâs sake. Or, not quite for convenienceâs sake, because itâs about a half dayâs flight on ride-Charizardâs back for Moon to make it from Ulaâula Island to Melemele. But, this way, Sun will get to stop off at his house. Wherever it is that heâs returning from must be miles away, and recuperating from the journey there makes more sense than recovering at the League. Melemeleâs more sentimental too, Moon supposes. More homey.
When the day comes finally, Moonâs long ready to leave her house by noon; sheâs at the pier by half past, and waits half an hour more for the ferry to pull in. It takes a little while to spot him, in between all the people and pokĂŠmon crowded against the ferryâs railing, but she doesâ eventually.
Sheâs already waited this long; she has no qualms about waiting a few minutes more. Moon rocks back on the balls of her feet, trying her best not to be embarrassing, to hold in her excitement until she sees Sun stepping off the gangplank, a shy smile already tugging at the corners of her lips, threatening to grow wider as she waves at him. Hopefully heâll spot her in amongst the crowd.

Lillie doesnât remember the trek up to the league being this hard. Though truth be told, it probably wasnât a good idea to immediately head up after a dizzy boat ride from Unova. She still feels the nausea and a mild headache--a whimpering Kyuu (Alolan Vulpix) doesnât help the situation at all. She cradles the Pokemon, sure to protect it from the occasional jutting edges of the cliff. Her ride pagerâs signal has been conveniently jammed--she suspects it to be of Boltâs (Rotom) fault since the Pokemon had been rather unsatisfied with the frequent boat rides sheâs been taking. Said Pokemon is also uncharacteristically quiet, but Lillie doesnât have it in her to question her partner.Â
She rounds a corner too quickly and makes eye contact with a young ace trainer. She really doesnât want to battle right now--no, not when sheâs about to throw up, or when sheâs about to fall over from severe sleep deprivation. But traditionâs tradition, and she tosses out Mimu (Mimikyu). Maybe she can deliberately lose to make the battle quick? But she canât bear to dishearten her Pokemon--
The ace trainer saves her from a serious bout of indecisiveness. He offers to heal up her party instead of battling, and Lillie figures she must really look like a mess right now to warrant that kind of reaction. She offers the trainer a Casteliacone from her previous adventures and moves on, glad to finally see the building. Just a final stretch left...
Kyuu jumps out from her arms then, racing down the road. Lillie yells at the Pokemon, turning heads here and there. Sheâs embarrassed, but more concerned about the safety of her Pokemon. Though the mountainâs been thoroughly inspected by the construction company and monitored yearly, loose boulders still come tumbling down occasionally. Lillie wonât stand a chance against them, much less Kyuu. She chases after her Vulpix, kicking up dust and pebbles. Wearing a white skirt and sneakers was another mistake she made. Seems like sheâll have to do a boutique run later.
When sheâs finally caught up with her Pokemon, Lillieâs at the entrance of the League. She brushes the dirt off Kyuuâs paws and scolds her briefly. Pushing the door open, she lets Kyuu scamper in before making her way to the reception desk. Thatâs when she realizes that she totally forgot to make an appointment.Â

Although it was rather early in the morning, with the sun just having broke the horizon of endless sea, and water, Vermilion City was bustling with life. The most popular and alive âattractionâ was the S.S. Aqua, which both served as entertainment and transportation for trainers who were seeking to battle as they travelled from Kanto to Johto.
N Harmonia, a young man that looked quite odd and out of place in the Kanto region, was about to get onto the ship. His faithful Zoroark, by his side. He smiled at the receptionist, ensuring he had his passport, and proper papers in order to be able to take the ship. She checked them over repeatedly, for a moment, asking him questions about Unova, to which he promptly fixed his hat and politely answered.Â
Deciding to let him go, N then walked towards the entrance-way, Zoroark scampering alongside him.Â
As he stepped out, into the early morning sunshine, he gasped at the sight of the magnificent ship. It was illuminated by the reddish, orange hues of the rising sun, which split off, and caused lighter pinker and yellowish colours to dance along the edges of the railings and the body of the boat. It was truly a spectacle to behold. N quickly walked up the board, stepping onto the S.S. Aqua, before glancing around him.Â
He could feel giddiness building up inside of him, excitement for the journey and what the future would hold for both him and Zoroark, and as if on cue, he looked down to his partner with a wide, happy grin.Â
Zoroark, meanwhile, was quite weary of the boat, and upon spotting N grin at him, rolled his eyes. Often the Pokemon felt like... a parent, to N, considering one moment he could be stood next to you, the next he could be hanging off the side of a boat, and pointing at a giant rock in the distance.
--- Which incidentally, is what he was just doing.
Zoroark pulls him back from the edge, met with Nâs cries of glee. âItâs... huge! Zoroark! They donât have rocks these big back in Unova!â
Again, Zoroark rolled his eyes, and N turned back to the rest of the ship, wondering what he could do next. People were filing on now, but most went below deck to their rooms, so they could fall asleep again. N understood most people would be incredibly tired, especially to get up this early on a Sunday morning, so he didnât judge them for that. But N didnât want to go below deck and sit in his room, he wanted to explore, meet some new people, and determine the bonds they had with their Pokemon!
She made this choice, but she couldnât help but feel as though sheâd failed. Â
The flour on her nose had more or less sunk into her skin at this point. Sheâd been kneading this bread for hours. Everything ached: her hands, her back, her heart, her mind. With each push of the dough, she felt the muscles in her arms scream for rest. She couldnât rest, though. If she stopped to rest, she stopped to think, and there were some thoughts she was actively avoiding at the moment. Â
She was kind of like the dough, actually. She was holding it together, but any one who knew better could see that she wasnât in the best shape. Â
âLeaf? Whatâs wrong?â
Sheâll never forget that look. The look of shock and confusion on Greenâs face as she ran out of the gym crying. She had won, but it didnât matter. It felt all wrong. Battling was awkward and clunky. It made her mind go numb. It wasnât her doing the battling, it felt as though she was watching someone else move through their own eyes. It wasnât enjoyable anymore. Â
Everyone told she had potential. Everyone told her she was going places. Â
It made her fall from grace even worse, if she was being honest. Â
She slammed the bread dough against the kitchen counter. Flour flew into the air and probably all over Leaf, but she didnât even notice. Â
âThis isnât the end. You have so much you could do, you donât have to be a baker for the rest of your life,â Â
Even though battling had been a big part of her identity, there were still other parts left of her. She was kind, intelligent, caring, dedicated. There were still pieces of her left. All she had to do was pick them up, and she was the only person who could do that. Â
She gently set the mound of dough in the oven. It wasnât going to be the best loaf of bread, but it would be just fine. It might even surprise her.  She flopped down onto the floor, sweat dripping down her forehead. Â
She was getting there. She wasnât there yet, but sheâd get there. Â
Where?
She had absolutely no idea, but everyone was right. Battling wasnât the right fit for her, but maybe something else was. The only person who could figure that out was her. Sheâd find her fit one day, but until then, sheâd just have to keep picking up the pieces and putting them back together. Â
Sheâd make it there, wherever that place may be. Â
