OKAY so cas is a horticultural science major (the gayest of all STEM majors i s2g i have never met a single straight horticultural science major) and he gets introduced to dean when they both attend the same oSTEM meeting; cas gets dragged there because gabe is the grad liason for oSTEM and he owns the car that they share, dean gets dragged there because he's spent two weeks holed up in his room working on his project for his manufacturing lab class and sam thinks he needs to see sunlight and other people again. they hit it off because they don't want to be there, and cas invites dean to go gay hiking with him at his gay hiking club (which is just. him, balthazar, and anna walking around in the woods for an hour every weekend and complaining about heterosexuals to each other)

theyāre one-sided enemies. first of all dean is a MechE and has a superiority complex about it like all MechEās do which makes him dislike crowley instantly. crowley is a systems engineering major who takes theĀ ābusiness major of engineeringā thing way too literally - heās just as evil and fucked up as regular business majors except he knows calculus which makes him worse. heās deanās partner in engineering ethics and he Does Not care about ethics at all and he thinks dean will be the same way because he earnestly believes he and dean are besties even though dean complains about him to sam and cas at every opportunity. they drunkenly make out at a house party one (1) time and dean never speaks to him again.Ā

sam: color-coded notes, a dedicated study group with meeting times, so so many flashcards, and the pomodoro techniqueĀ
