Cyanocitta stelleri - Steller’s Jay.
Watercolor, ink, and gouache.
Steller's Jay by StrangeCharmDesign Unfortunately quite a noisy photo, but our resident pair of Steller's Jays almost never sit still long enough to photograph so I took what I could get! This guy's the coastal subspecies (based on the blue stripes on the crest) and can often be found fighting with the local robins and failing to understand how to land at my birdfeeders. https://flic.kr/p/2iB6N8p

Going outside is good for you... No matter what the weather! --- Still alive and making it (despite car trouble and ER visits), and working furiously. It's weird to be so very busy but not be able to show off much of it!! This is part of a poster for the Land Trust Alliance (one of FOUR), a nonprofit dedicated to conservation of land across the United States. I may not be a biologist formally right now, but my heart is in science and nature, and I'm honored to help contribute to missions like these. Stay tuned for full-views and the rest of them soon! (Or become a $1/month Patron to see this stuff as I finish it, along with some other Secret projects!) Looking forward to having time again for personal work. October is so close I can taste it. It tastes like ink. And feathers... #nature #illustration #art #stellersjay #snow #skippingfall #gooutside #play #snowangel #bird #digitalpainting #digital #notded (at Charlottesville, Virginia) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn_xNbJhcXO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=186kdvll3a2ro
