The slag line is the part of the ladle where molten steel is in direct contact with air. Due to the temperature difference and oxygen-rich environment, the erosion rate in this area is significantly faster than in other parts. Furthermore, the tilting of molten steel and slag removal during operation cause considerable damage to the slag line. Therefore, the erosion of the slag line has always been a bottleneck problem in the steelmaking and ironmaking industries. The slag line not only experiences rapid erosion but also problems such as slagging, red-hot discoloration, spalling, and steel leakage. Slag line bricks generally refer to the refractory bricks laid in the area from the third to the eighth layer downwards from the ladle opening.
