I see so many posts talking about how Eddie can't wrap gifts or bake for shit and Steve is amazing at it.
Well I call bullshit.
Eddie had Wayne there to teach him. To sit down with him and answer his million questions and laugh when something turned out a little funky. Wayne would say it's wholly Eddie, which makes it perfect.
Steve didn't have that. He had parents who were barely around, much less teaching him these things when they were. Steve survived off school lunches, box dinners, and whatever Claudia Henderson made for him. Steve 100% buys gift bags for every present he gives.
Steve may have grown up with his parent's money, but Eddie grew up with Wayne in his corner.

hello! we are IGNORING that this is almost a whole year late to last year's steddiemas, and we are pretending that i am super awesome at writing things on time! (but i think this the first time i'm on time to a lex challenge lmao)
@steddiemas Day 30 - "I love seeing you flustered, it's cute." AND @thefreakandthehair's Spicy Six -ber Month Challenge - "You got me this?"

Eddieâs hot on his heels as they swing through Steveâs bedroom door, the former pressing the latter back into it once closed and, surprisingly, doesnât go for a kiss. Eddie presses close, slotting a thigh between Steveâs, then leans in, eyes closed, to gently drag his nose along the shape of Steveâs.Â
Steve practically melts.
âHey big boy,â Eddie whispers
Steve hums, pushing one leg just a bit higher between Eddieâs, feeling the not so insubstantial thickness there. âHey yourself..âÂ
That pulls a laugh from Eddie, and he opens his eyes. The already dark chocolate of them seem darker in the low light coming from the bedside lamp Steve is suddenly glad he forgot to switch off earlier tonight.
They look at each other for a moment, each of them taking in the other. Then they break out in laughs, pulling together again with a sigh (from which of the two is unknown).
Lips locked and moving steadily together, Steve nudges Eddie back from the door.
Surprisingly, he moves easily, as if heâs not quite aware of moving. That is, until, just before Steve goes to push Eddie down onto his bed, Eddie spins them and pushes Steve back instead.
He shuffles backward up the mattress, awkwardly pulling the pillow up from under him while Eddie watches, amused.
âGood?â he asks when Steve finally leans back against the headboard.
Steve huffs a laugh, rolls his eyes, âYeah Eddie, Iâm good.â
âGood.â Eddie nods, then takes a step backward and launches himself onto Steve.
He lands, bony and uncoordinated, between Steveâs legs with an âOofâ.
Steve too, gets the breath knocked out from under him. âWas that really necessary?â he wheezes.
âAbsolutely.â Eddie wheezes in return, âNow, where were we?â He starts to get his arms under himself, seeming to struggle pushing up off the squashy mattress.
âBefore you tried to kill us both?â
He pushes into Steve further, his hips aligning properly this time, and draping his upper body over Steveâs. âPrecisely.â
Eddie lowers his face to Steveâs again and all the sarcastic retorts are flushed from his brain.
After a few minutes and also no time at all, Eddie pulls back enough to change position.
âTell me what you want, sweetheart.â His lips are hot where they lazily push and drag along the skin where his jaw meets neck.
âWant you,â Steve manages in response, not quite the full response heâd be trying for.
He can feel Eddieâs smile against his skin. âYâhave me,â
âWant you to fuck me.â
The sound Eddie makes sounds as if it was punched out of him, but he manages to say âCanât.âÂ
A rock thuds into Steveâs stomach. âHuh?â
âI mean,â another open-mouthed kiss is pressed to his neck, âWe can't really go any farther,â
Eddieâs continued ministrations make it hard to think, but Steve manages a breathy âWe can't?â
Lips leave the meat of his neck with a final wet kiss, then Eddieâs locking eyes with him again, âNot until we get some lube. I may be less experienced than you, Stevie, but I at least know that much.â
Steve blinks at him in surprise, thoughts swirling in his head and behind his lips about that revelation, but pushes it down, instead twisting for the bedside drawer. He finds what heâs looking for in only a couple practiced swipes. âHere.â
Eddie's jaw drops, grasping the bottle of lube in his palm âYou justâŚhave? This?
âWell, yeah.â
âWhy??â
Steve shrugs, âI've kept it on hand ever since Carol, Tommy, and I wouldâ you know what? It doesn't matter; now, you gonna ruin me with that monster of yours, or what?â
Eddie blinks at him this time, then shakes his head as if clearing away a thought.
âSure sweetheart,â he kisses Steve again, âThough Iâm kinda pissed Iâm not gonna be the first one in that pretty ass of yours.â
Steve sucks Eddieâs lower lip into his mouth and bites at it as Eddie pulls back, âTommy neverâ youâll be the first.â
Eddie stares down at him, and Steve watches the color flood into his cheeks as his expression shifts from confusion to cockiness. âWell then,â he tosses the bottle up and catches it again with fervor, grinning almost giddily, âYour wish is my command; But first..â He leans back in and kisses him again, putting the bottle back onto the nightstand.
Steve laughs when Eddie pulls back to get at the other side of his neck. âYouâhahâ like kissing, Munson?â
âLike kissing you.â He mumbles against Steveâs adamâs apple, âLove seeing you flustered. Itâs cute.â He leans up then, looking Steve in the face, âBut donât call me Munson when Iâm about to go down on you.â
âYou are?â
Eddie just grins and sits back, tugging at the waistband of Steveâs sweatpants.

Having worked through the previous night on Steveâs jacket, having worked over Steve all evening, Eddieâs beat (hah) by the time his and Steveâs breaths finally slow late that night. Even with the good chunk of hours he slept through that morning.
And now, as he lays boneless on Steveâs chest, he sleepily blinks out at the snowflakes filtering past Steveâs window.
He tracks the path of one clump from where it seemingly appears out of nowhere as it passes into the low light coming from the bedside lamp, all the way down to where it lands on the strip of the stuff accumulating on the sill.
Two, three more times he does this, finally stirring to look up at Steve.
His hair is a sweaty mess, drying plastered to his forehead, floating above the pillowcase with the static, sticking straight up into the airâŚ
âYour hairâs a mess.â
Steveâs blissful expression crinkles up in laughter, he looks down at Eddie in return, eyes flicking all over his own face and hair, âYours is worse.â
âYou sure?â
âPositive.â
Eddie hums, rests his chin on Steveâs chest, âWe should probably take a shower before we fall asleep.â
Steve, whose eyes had stayed shut on his last blink, opens his eyes with an unconcerned hum. âProbably.â
Neither make any sort of move to get up for a few more minutes; Steveâs hand does, however, start to trace a figure eight onto the skin of Eddieâs back.
âHmmmokay, okay, I seriously almost fell asleep that time.â Steve finally says, startling Eddie out of the doze heâd somehow fell into, âLetâs go, shower time.â
Slowly, sleepily, they shower; both their hands end up wandering over the other, Steve winning out on getting his hand around them both for one more tally for the night, and are back in bed, and clean, another five minutes later.
The next morning, they wake up slowly, stirring, then fully rising after a heated, morning breath riddled, makeout session.
âNo, really Ed, we shouldâ you should get going, isnât Wayne going to be up soon?â
Not missing that slip, but choosing to ignore it for now, Eddie squints playfully up at Steve as he pushes up off the bed and towards his dresser, âYou want me outta here that bad, Stevie? Got your other boyfriend coming over soon?â
Steve shakes his head, closing the drawer heâd been rifling through and turning back around to face him. âYeah Ed, Iâve got a full roster of Christmas blowjobs to hand out today, so..â he makes a shoo-ing motion at him, then pulls his shirt on over his slept-with-it-wet bed head.
Eddie laughs, pushing up to sit in the center of the bed, âWould you like to come over for cinnamon rolls, Stevie?â
Steve waves him off immediately, âNo, no, You have a good day with Wayne, Ed, but,â He shuffles over to his desk, reaches between it and his bedframe, and comes back with a small rectangular box, wrapped in a plaid paper that, if he tested it, Eddie was sure matched the pattern of the ribbon on the mantle. âYou have to bring this to Wayne.â
Eddie takes a moment to revel in the fact that Steve got his uncle a Christmas present, that his boyfriend Steve got his uncle a Christmas present, he shakes his head, shuffling to the edge of the bed, âNo can do, Stevie,â he says as he stands, âMunson rule, you bought it, you gift it.â
-x-
âWeâre home!â Eddie yells as soon as the door is open, pulling Steve inside then letting his hand go to greet Wayne in the kitchen with a hug.
Steve takes the moment to put his box under the Munsonâs tree in the corner, short and twinkling softly, a modest and lovingly wrapped pile of other gifts taunting him under the colored panels of Sunday comics.
The box is shoved behind the next biggest box, and heâs standing again before Wayne and Eddie have even released the other, âMerry Christmas old man, our rolls ready yet?â
âYâknow, I remind myself every day how much I love ya.â Eddie grins at his uncle, and Steve canât decide if he picked up on the jab or not. âAnd yes, you ungrateful little shit, the rolls are almost done.â
His mustache remains curved up as he shakes his head fondly and turns back to the oven.
âGreat! By the way, Steveâs here.â
âYeah, I picked up on that. Howâs it goinâ Steve?â
âIâm great, thanks. Thanks for having me over, Eddie offered and said you wouldnât mindâŚ?â
Wayne looks up at him then, ducking to peer through the gap between the cabinets and counter of the peninsula. âOf course I donât, boy, you crazy? Itâs Christmas!â
âStevie here said he âDidnât want to intrude.â.â Eddie adds unhelpfully, sucking something off his finger.
âNo intrusion here Steve, you know youâre always welcâ Theodore Munson you keep your fingers outta that frosting!â
Steve snorts out an ugly laugh, âTheodore?â
Wayne looks between Eddie (still frozen with his finger in his mouth), and Steve, who finally feels like he can wander to the end of the counter. âYou mean youâve been goinâ on and on about this boy for months, years now, and he never knew your nameâs Theodore?â
Wayneâs eyes are positively glowing with mischief.Â
Eddie finally unfreezes, âYeah, well, Steveâs middle name is Otis. Otis! Can you believe that?â
Steve only shrugs, unphased by this transgression (surely infuriatingly to Eddie), âI was named after my Grandpa.â
âNo shit? So was Teddy.â
Steve barely contains his glee, âOh cool, why didnât you tell me, Teddy?â
âI hate you both so much.â Eddie grumbles, then stalks off down the hall.
âAwe, câmon teddy, whereâre you going?â Steve teases more, following Eddie to his room.
âIâm changing into my PJs, leave me alone!â he calls back.
Steve leans in the doorway and watches Eddie shed his vest and jacket, his shirt, all before he even goes to his dresser for a pair of sweats.
He tosses a pair of lounge pants at Steve, and continues to scowl as he sheds his jeans.
âYouâre not mad for real, are you?â
âNo,â he sighs, pulling up the sweats, âJust mourning the loss of my final secret.â
âAww,â Steve coos teasingly, tossing his lended pants onto Eddieâs mattress and moving forward to cup Eddieâs face, âYou gonna make it,â he pauses, âTeddy bear?â
Eddie, who had started to melt into the hold, scoffs, and pushes him off, but seemingly canât help but laugh, âYouâre the worst person in the whole world.â
âYeah, well, you still love me.â Steve says, shrugging as he goes back for his lended comfy pants.
Heâs done toeing off his shoes and is about to start unbuckling his belt when Eddie says, âYeah, I think I do.â
It was said so quietly, and just as the timer in the kitchen goes off, so it takes Steve all the way until his belt, button, and fly are completely undone before he registers what Eddie had said..
And what he said.Â
His hands drop from his jeans down to his sides. He turns to face Eddie again.
âYou do?â
Eddie nods, and Steveâs jeans unceremoniously fall to his ankles.
Now itâs Eddieâs turn to ugly laugh, though he clamps his hand over his mouth in glee to stop it.
Steve opens his mouth to say something, when Wayneâs voice calls down the hall and it breaks through his daze.
âHands better be stayinâ above the waist down there!â
Eddie laughs again, Steve finally kicks his jeans off his feet. His face is broiling.
âYeah Wayne, just changing!â Eddie calls back.
âWell hurry it up, rolls are all ready to go.â
âBe there in a sec.â
Steve finally finishes pulling on his new pants, tying them tight at the waist, âWayne knows?â he whispers to Eddie.
âHm? Oh, yeah, of course he does.â he waves off Steveâs worries and picks up his t-shirt, pulling it on over his head, âNow câmon, Iâm starving.â
âHey, wait,â Steve catches him in the doorway and presses a kiss to his lips, âI love you too.â
-
Twenty minutes later, with their stomachs full and teeth aching, the three shuffle into the living room from the Munsonsâ little table.Â
âAlrightâ whoâs first?â
âSteve!â Eddie says at the same time Steve says âEddie!â
Wayne only shrugs, âSounds good to me, Ed, yours is that one covered in Garf, Steve, yours is that smaller rectangle one.â
Somehow, Eddieâs already got his half torn open by time he hands Steve his gift.
âWayne, you didnât have toââ
âOh sick! I needed a new pair of these,â Eddie exclaims, pulling a bright white sneaker from the box in his lap, âThanks Wayne!â
Newsprint crinkles as Eddie shifts the box around to grab the only remaining newspaper-wrapped box and tossing it to Wayne.
âCanât say I never get you anything,â
Wayne tears into his package, and soon, is lifting out a fur-lined bomber hat. âThis is great, thanks kiddo,â He clasps the earflaps over the leather crown of the head and tugs it on.
âYeah, and it cost me a pretty penny,â Eddie teases, as he pulls the laces out of his new, identical to his well-worn ones by the door, shoes. âSo you better wear it.â
âWhattya mean! Iâm wearinâ it right now!â
Steve leaves them to their playful jabs, and starts tearing open the newspaper on his own gift.
He gets it open, and his eyes widen. He immediately flips over the wrappings unnecessarily, he can tell they are the funnies from here.Â
He stares down at the box in his hands, and laughs. Eddie pauses in his re-lacing efforts to look up at the sound.
âHope that means you like âem.â Wayne says, and, still grinning, Steve looks up at him. While he was stuck figuring out his present, it seems Eddieâs taken it upon himself to toss his balled newspaper wrappings and the paper wrappings from his shoebox into Wayneâs lap. âNow I know itâs new and all, but sue me for gettinâ sappy about you boys havinâ Christmases all on your own,â he shrugs, âThought youâd want a coupleâa traditional Munson mugs to startcha off.â
Steveâs stomach flips at the implication and, still smiling (and with his hands now free of the box of two matching mugs as Eddie had taken it from him to examine), Steve stands, grabs Wayneâs present, and passes it to him.
âYou got me this?â Wayne asks incredulously, âYou spoil me.â
Steve rolls his eyes, âJust open it.â
Wayneâs only torn off one corner when he bursts out laughing.
âWhatâs so funny?â Eddie asks, trying to see whatâs under the paper.
âNow I know this is new and all,â Steve teases, putting on a horrible impression of Wayneâs half-lost accent, âBut I thought youâd want some traditional Munson mugs.â
This only makes Wayne laugh harder, his recliner shakes with it.
âWhat? Someone tell me whatâs going on!â
âOh thatâs hilarious,â Wayne wheezes, coming down from his fit with a few wayward giggles, and finishes tearing off the paper.. from an identical set of two Christmas-themed mugs heâd just gifted Steve.
Eddie starts to laugh, pulling both Steve and Wayne into another bout each, âWell, I guess weâll never have a shortage of Christmas mugs.â Eddie says, taking the second box from Wayneâs armrest. âYou better use them whenever we canât make it back home for the holidays, old man.â
Steveâs stomach flips again at the thought of he and Eddie together this year and all the years to come.
ââCourse I will, you see any other Christmassy mugs hanginâ around here?â Waye says, gesturing around to his zillion other cups, âYou just gotta use the other whenever you can.â
Wayneâs true to his word, always assuring them over the phone that heâs got his mug out whenever they get stuck up in Chicago, out in Los Angeles, complaining that âMy sleigh is lookinâ a little worse for wear.â every time.
And when, only a couple handfuls of too few years later when Steve and Eddie pull out their set of three matching Christmas mugs the year after Wayne is gone, it makes them laugh before anything else.
âHeâs got his, donât worry Teddy.â
âI know he does,â Eddie murmurs, looking down at the mug in his hand, then snorts a laugh, âThat sleighâs toast by now.â
i'm laughing at the fact this started smutty and ended sad lmao
i found two boxes of these mugs from the 80s in oct last year and had always planned them to be written in as an accidental double gift between steve and wayne
also, you will pull Theodore "Eddie/Teddy" Munson from my cold dead hands
ALSO ALSO special shoutout to @steddiehasmywholeheart who has been reading this today and sending me notifs with a comment on each chap as they do that made me say 'you know what, i need to finish this. today. as a special surprise for them specifically.'
@steddiemas Day 16: Angst-Themed (Saturday Sentence Starters)
wc: 1k | Rated: T | cw: Steveâs parents are arguing (he is overhearing it briefly but there are some descriptions of yelling), toxic family dynamics, unstable marriage, cheating
Tags: Steve Harrington Has Bad Parents, Angst with a Happy Ending, Unstable Marriage, Toxic Family Dynamics, Cheating
âI donât want to fight with you, Caroline,â Steve hears his father bellow from downstairs, âNot tonight.â
He snaps his comic closed and tosses it on the floor.
Steve has no idea what his parents are arguing about. Hell, they donât even need an excuse these days, he thinks. Someone can so much as fart and it will start a goddamn screaming match.
He guesses he shouldnât be surprised. Itâs the holidays and his parents are both off work until the beginning of the New Year. Itâs snowing heavy out so they canât go down to the Martensâ house â their best friends-come-buffer zones.
âOh, John!â his mother chides before there is a lower muffle that he canât quite make out.
While being hard of hearing allows him not to hear anything below a shout, the broken argument is still frustrating.
His parents might not need an excuse to fight, but heâd still like to know what itâs about. Gain intel for the inevitable coming days of being stuck in the middle.
Steve has a few guesses as to what it could be.
His mother bought a new car with her Christmas bonus finally topping up her bank account and thus justifying an indulgent and expensive purchase. His father always hates that.
Steve smirks.
If his father didnât like that kind of independence, why did he marry a high-paid lawyer?
But, the more likely scenario considering his fatherâs apparent insistence he âdoesnât want to fightâ is that he is cheating again.
Cindy, his secretary, or someone new â take your pick.
The telltale signs have been there for a month or two. A renewed cheery attitude, longer office hours, a fresh haircut and new clothes.
Actually, now that he thinks about it, it might be a little bit of a motivator behind his motherâs car purchase too âÂ
â â Cindy!â his mother shrieks.
Yep, there it is.
Steve rolls off the bed, planting his feet on the carpet right by his shoes.
âFuck this,â he mutters, scooping up his keys and wallet from the nightstand.
Heâs just about halfway to Forest Hills, driving at a snailâs pace because he canât see for snow, when he begins to regret his decision to leave the house.
Maybe he shouldnât just barge in on the Munsons unannounced. Like sure, his friendship with Eddie is⌠teetering on not being entirely platonic. But this might be too much.
He always thought it was too much when heâd walk down to stay at Carol Perkinsâ house for an impromptu sleepover. And there was always this awkward, knowing going on with the Wheelerâs when he was dating Nancy and spending a lot of time just hanging about.
Lingering for too long in the kitchen chatting to Karen or watching a game with Ted until the guy started snoring too loud to hear the commentators.
It was all there but largely unspoken.
Only Robin knows the details. And even then, heâs sure that her fatherâs friendliness towards him was partly due to his daughter telling him all about the trouble at the âol Harrington house. He doesnât blame his best friend for likely doing so. And he doesnât consider it blabbing, either. Robinâs parents â her whole family â are amazing.
But some of his parentâs shit is stupid at best, hard to take at worst.
And he is scared to let Eddie in on it.
Itâs too much.
Heâs too much.
Being a Harrington is too much.
Wayne answers the door with a cup of cocoa that seems glued to his left hand in winter.
âSteve,â he says, voice gruff as ever despite a warm smile.
âHi,â he replies, looking down at his snow-covered boots, âEddie in?â
Of course, heâs in, his van is parked outside.
Steve can feel the warmth from inside the trailer. See the twinkle of lights from the Munsonâs small, but heavily-decorated, Christmas tree. The smell of cocoa overpowering the ever-present hint of cigarettes.
âEddie!â Wayne calls over his shoulder, âSteveâs here.â
In a flash, Eddie runs to the front door and practically bumps into his uncle.
âCome in!â he insists, wide-eyed as he looks past his shoulder at the falling snow.
And before Steve can even step in, Eddie is pulling him by his parka sleeve. He only just manages to scrape off his boots on the âHome Sweet Homeâ adorned welcome mat.
âWhat some cocoa?â Eddie offers, eliciting a grumble from Wayne.
âI asked if you wanted some,â he chides.
âBut Steve might want some,â Eddie grins.
âHow about I heat up a pot now, and whoever wants someâs got it?â Wayne suggests, pursing his lips at Eddie and moving to the stove before his nephew can make any more requests.
âFollow me,â Eddie says, grabbing his hand, âI made cookies.â
He wiggles his brows and begins leading Steve to the kitchen.
As he is pulled along, Steve tries not to think about the fact that they are holding hands. Or how he wishes his fifteen-minute-ago Self had thought to bring an overnight bag and allowed himself to assume the Munsons would allow him to stay the night.
But it might be even harder to stop himself from squeezing his friendâs hand and lacing his fingers with Eddieâs.
Eddie lets go of his hand to gesture to the tray of Christmas-themed shapes, all looking a little too dark for gingerbread as they rest on the kitchen island.
âPick one, Big Boy,â Eddie beams.
Steve reaches for a reindeer, flexing his fingers as he goes and commits the feeling of Eddieâs rings to memory.
âNo!â Eddie shrieks, lightly smacking his hand enough that he drops it, leaving the cookie to snap in half as it falls back onto the tray, âHis antlers are broken.â
âChrist, boy!â Wayne curses, stirring the pot on the stovetop.
Okay, a tree thenâŚ
âThe star is missing!â
A bell?
âThat was already snapped in half when I got them out of the ovenâ, Eddie admits with a tight-lipped smile.
Steve places his hands on his hips and rolls his eyes. To him, they all look at least a little crumbly â some he would even describe as lightly charred.
âHow about you pick one for me then, Betty Crocker?â he chuckles.
Eddie giggles, twirling a lock of his hair as he carefully considers the tray of mostly broken, dry cookies.
He watches Eddie for a long enough time that Wayne pushes a mug into his hand, the warmth of Eddieâs hand remaining in place due to the heat of the cocoa. Itâs a Chicago Cubs mug, one that he finds himself holding at some point each time he is here as if Wayne considers it Steveâs own.

Jingle Boy Rock
Wearing the usual Scoops Ahoy uniform was bad enough 11 months out of the year. Wearing it in December was fucking miserable.Â
Gone were their usual hats, and in their place were elf hatsâ the kind that were red with green trim, with a bell on the end and giant felt elf ears on the sides. They were given bright red shorts, with a green and red striped shirt that had bells hanging from the spikes around the collar.Â
Steve would have preferred to wear the regular uniform everywhere every day for the rest of his life than wear the goddamned elf outfit all month long.Â
Especially when Eddie fucking Munson, the goddamn bane of his existence, worked right across the mall, at the record store. Eddie had taken one look at the Scoops uniform and decided that he was going to be the biggest nuisance in Steveâs life. Every lunch break, every time he was bored, every time he just felt like it, he was there. Leaning against the freezer and smiling that crooked smile. Steve really didnât want to know how much worse the wheedling was going to get when Eddie saw their holiday uniforms.Â
âJingle boy!âÂ
Steve groanedâ he hadnât been at work for five fucking minutes, and already Eddie was calling across the mall to him. He pushed both hands over his face and grabbed the hat to pull it off.
âHe only does that because he always gets a reaction out of you,â Robin pointed out. At least her outfitâ a red dress with a green shirt underneath it and matching white and green striped tightsâ was cute.Â
âHe does that because heâs a pain in the ass,â Steve said. He dropped the elf ears onto the counter and leaned back against it with his arms crossed over his chest. âI canât deal with this today.â
âRight. Like you donât love it.â Robin shook her head. âJust kiss him already, dingus.â
Steve had heard this at least five times already, and just like he had every other time he waved it away. âDo you say that shit to him, too?â
âNo, just to you.â She pushed away from the counter. âHey, Eddie.â
âHey Buck!â Eddie sauntered over to the counter. Surprisingly he was wearing a hat, too, but it was black velvet with white fur trim.Â
âSantaâs goth now?â Steve asked.
âMetal, actually. I have to shake things up somehow, right?â Eddie leaned against the freezer. âI like the new getup. Itâs very⌠âHallmark threw up on me.ââ
Steve rolled his eyes. âDo you need something, Munson? Some of us actually have work to do.â
âNo oneâs here,â Robin pointed out. She just grinned when Steve glared at her.Â
âIâm actually here âcause I have something for you,â Eddie said. For the first time that Steve could recall, Eddie actually looked⌠nervous.Â
âYou have something⌠for me?â he asked.Â
âYeah.â Eddie pulled a box out of his pocket. âItâs not a big thing, just⌠something that made me think of you.â He slid the box across the counter and tapped the lid with his fingers. âGo ahead, open it.â
âItâs only the 7th,â Steve said.Â
âI know, but I want you to open it early.â Eddie tucked his hands into his back pockets. âPlease?â
âYou said âplease.â Does that mean somethingâs gonna jump out of the box at me?â Steve joked. He untied the pretty red ribbon and took the lid off. Inside was the cutting of a plant, just a stem with a few little shoots that ended in green leaves and little white berries. There was a matching red ribbon tied around it.Â
âIs thisâŚâ Steve looked at Eddie. He wondered vaguely if his cheeks were as pink as Eddieâs were. â...mistletoe?â
âYeah.â Eddie ducked his head so his hair fell into his face. âI, um⌠I realized that I donât think my flirting has been working? And I figured, before I turned you off of me foreverâŚâ
âWaitâ wait, youâve been flirting with me?â Steve asked. âSince when?â
Eddie looked at him with those big, deep eyes. âSince I walked in and said âhey, big boyâ? What did you think I was doing?â
âTrying to get under my skin!â Steve said. âAre youâ really?â
âI wasnât trying to get under your skin. Maybe in your panââ
âHey! Maybe you two should go to the breakroom to finish this conversation!â Robin said. âQuickly, though, Santaâs almost here and that means weâre gonna be packed.â
Steve caught Eddieâs hand and tugged him towards the back room that had a couch, two folding chairs, and a wobbly card table. âYouâve really been flirting with me?â he asked.Â
It made sense, when he thought back to all the time Eddie spent tugging at his scarf or flicking his hat, talking about his shorts andâ
âOh my god, Iâm an idiot.â Steve shook his head and lightly hit himself in the forehead with his fistâ a move he wanted to repeat when the bells around his neck jingled with the movement. âOh my god!â
Eddie giggled and wrapped his fingers around Steveâs hand to stop him from doing that. âBe nice to yourself,â he said, and Steve was shocked when Eddie leaned forward to kiss his forehead. âAnyway, Stevie⌠my gift. Whatâd you think?â
âI think⌠that itâs bad luck, if we let it go to waste.â Steve lifted it out of the box by the stem and leaned in with a smile.Â
He wasnât sure what the mistletoe was supposed to mean exactly, but as their lips met, and as his fingers curled into Eddieâs soft hair, Steve found that he was more than willing to find out.Â
Steve was beyond stressed, "Robin is going to kill me," he mattered looking dejectedly at the board above him.
Every flight tonight had been cancelled because of the snow storm. Robin had warned him about the storms coming and had told him to catch an earlier flight home to Indy so they could all be in Hawkins for Christmas. Steve hadn't listened though and wanted a few more days at the dinner with holiday pay, bills were right over Christmas with gifts and the heater.
He shouldn't be surprised that Chicago had been hit with the biggest snowstorm in years, the night he needed to leave. He slumped back down into his chair with his backpack and placed his head in his hands. He might as well wait and see if it passed and catch the first flight out.
"Snowstorm trap you here too?" A voice beside him asked and he looked up to see a sweet looking man wrapped in a clearly handmade sweater. His curls dangled around the softest eyes Steve had ever seen.
"Yeah, my family is waiting for me, they're going to be so mad."
"My uncle is definitely going to say I told you so, he wanted me to catch an earlier flight."
"My sister said the same thing!"
The stranger laughed and Steve wanted to bottle it and keep hearing it forever, which was probably dramatic since he didn't even know his name.
"I'm Eddie." Ok maybe he's a mind reader?
"Steve, want to kill time with me? I've got cards, we can play go fish."
"Sounds like a perfect way to wait out the storm, Stevie."
The hours passed quickly with the boys wrapped in conversation and their game, and later, when they ended up on the same flight, both headed to a little town called Hawkins, well Steve thinks that might just be fate.

@steddiemas day 1: deck the halls | wc: 1.2k | rated: m
Robin Buckley loves Christmas.
Like, really loves Christmas. If she could convince Steve to put the tree up in their little shitbox apartment the day after Halloween, she would. In fact, she'd tried last year but Steve reminded her that a live tree would be a needleless fire hazard by Christmas Day and she refuses to entertain the idea of a fake tree.
Absolutely not. Live tree or bust.
And this is how Steve ends up at the Christmas Tree Farm the day after Thanksgiving, dragged around with a fond if not tired smile as she checks tree after tree, pulling their branches, checking their strength and health.
"It has to be a Blue Spruce to hold those heavy ornaments from my parents, and none of these are Blue Spruces!" She bemoans, whipping her head around to glare at Steve. "Are you even helping?"
He rolls his eyes and sips the hot chocolate that warms him from the inside. "I'm here as moral support and to cut the thing down when you find it." Steve wiggles the little saw he'd been handed and nods her on.
Robin scoffs and marches back towards him. "I think there are some Blue Spruces in the lot towards the back."
Without a question, he turns on his heel and follows her. This isn't their first Christmas Tree Hunt so he knows the drill. No matter how much he actually hates Blue Spruces because the needles are sharp and stick him when they hang the lights, he'll never say a word. Not when it makes his best friend this happy.
Eventually, they make the trek through muddy grass and Robin does, in fact, find a Blue Spruce that makes her eyes light up in the hidden away lot.
"This is it," she beams. "This is the one."
"Perfect, here, hold this--" Steve hands her his mug and starts to lean down, only for the tree to start shaking.
A man in ripped jeans and Reeboks lies beneath the tree, his own saw just beginning to make its mark in the stump of the spiky, healthy Spruce.
"Hey! Hey, what are you doing? This is our tree." Robin says, reaching through branches to hold it steady. "We were just about to cut it down, back off."
Steve sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. It's not that he won't defend Robin's honor and get into a fight in a Christmas Tree Farm for her, he'd just really rather not.
The mystery man pokes his head out from under the tree with furrowed brows and two needles sticking out from the top of his head, dirt on his denim jacket that protects what looks like a red and black flannel. Steve's definitely been watching way too many Hallmark movies with Robin lately because holy shit, he's cute.
"Listen, my best friend wants this tree, and I don't even wanna be under here but if she doesn't get this Blue Whatever-The-Fuck, someone's halls are getting decked and it'll probably be mine. So, sorry." He shrugs and returns to his place under the tree.Â
Robin looks at Steve, bewildered and frazzled simultaneously. Do something, she mouths.Â
Like what? He mouths back, scrunching his face and contorting his mouth.Â
She widens her eyes and jerks her head to the side, desperate.Â
He shouldâve known Robin would be responsible for his demise.Â
âCâmon, man, weâve been here for two hours looking for a tree.â Steve gets no response, just a few grunts that shouldnât go straight to his crotch but what can he say? Itâs been awhile.
He steps forward and lies down beneath the tree with the Tree Thief. âIs she here with you? Your best friend who seems as fucking rabid as mine is here about these trees?âÂ
Steve watches as the man focuses on the tree stump, rhythmic back and forth motions of the saw moving his torso along the ground with his tongue poking out between his lips. âMaybe I can talk to her? Or send Robin? Sheâs⌠convincing?âÂ
âChrissy wants this one, dude. Hate to break it to you.âÂ
âAh, okay. Robin and Chrissy. Well, Iâm Steve, and youâreâŚ?âÂ
The sawing stops as he catches his breath. âEddie. Iâm Eddie. And unless youâre gonna help under here, you might wanna move. I donât wanna drop this on you.âÂ
Steve pulls his bottom lip between his teeth and takes a chance. Reaching out, he places one hand on top of Eddieâs. âCan I make you a deal?âÂ
Eddie startles, eyes flickering back and forth from the space where their hands touch on the rough bark of the tree up to Steveâs gaze.Â
âDepends on the deal, I suppose.â Maybe Steve imagines the flush to his cheeks and the playful grin that blossoms across his lips. All he knows about Eddie is that his best friendâs name is Chrissy and that he has the most beautiful brown eyes Steveâs maybe ever seen.Â
Not maybe. Definitely.Â
âUh,â he shakes his head, trying to pull himself out of whatever Christmas romcom he thinks heâs living in. âWhat if we help you and Chrissy find another tree and I help you cut it down? Iâll even carry it to the car for you.âÂ
âWhat are you, some sort of lumberjack?â
âNope,â he lowers his voice conspiratorially, joking as he leans closer, like an idiot. âJust desperate not to get my halls decked.â It earns him a genuine smile and surprised laugh punched from Eddieâs lungs.Â
âAlright,â he taps the saw on the trunk and smirks over at Steve, mere inches apart beneath a Christmas tree. Close enough for the faint scent of Eddieâs cigarettes and Old Spice cologne to permeate the strength of the resinous spruce. âYou help us find another tree, lug it to the car, and then meet me for coffee after? Seems like the least you can do, all things considered.âÂ
Trading numbers with the guy he met while bargaining for Robinâs dream Christmas tree isnât the weirdest moment of his life, but itâs certainly on the shortlist. As is plucking rogue needles out of his hair when they come up from beneath the tree.
He ends up lugging two Blue Spruces to the parking lot an hour later in two tripsâ Robin chatting with Chrissy in front of them and Eddie at his side, gravitating closer and closer until their arms nearly touch.Â
âYou know, you didnât actually have to do this,â Eddie says, moving away from Steve and to the other side of Chrissy's sedan to help tie the tree to the roof. âYouâre not like, actually obligated or whatever.âÂ
Steve finishes tying his end of the knot and looks across at Eddie, finding him standing with hopeful eyes and a piece of hair drawn in front of his face.Â
âOh, I know.â He smiles and shrugs. âBut I want to. Especially the coffee-with-you-after part.âÂ
âNot until we get this thing up and decked, Munson!â Chrissy pops up next to Eddie at the same time Robin appears next to Steve, both of them practically bouncing on their heels and grinning ear to ear.Â
Robin nudges Steve in the side and he looks down to see her phone held out, Chrissyâs number typed into her contacts with a tiny pink heart to it. He gives her a subtle, excited thumbs up from below Eddie and Chrissyâs view beneath the car.Â
Eddie slings an arm across Chrissyâs shoulders and ruffles her hair before she fixes her ponytail, indignant.Â
âAlright, alright,â Steve laughs. âIâll uh, Iâll text you?âÂ
Eddie nods and turns himself and Chrissy towards the front of the car. As he gets in the passenger seat, he looks back at Steve with a mischievous wink most likely emboldened by Steveâs brash flirtation.Â

Day 1: Deck the Halls

Steveâs annoyed.
More than annoyed, really.
Heâs supposed to be at the Munsonâs, sitting between Wayne and Eddie, watching the Hoosiers play. Well, trying to watch the game, at least. Eddie has a habit of dozing off before the first quarter ends, head thunking against Steveâs shoulder so he canât move for the rest of the game.
But no.
His mom just had to call and demand he set up their stupid Christmas tree before she and his dad get home tonight because the annual Harrington Holiday House party is this weekend, and she doesnât have time to do it herself. Honestly, heâs surprised sheâs trusting him enough to decorate the thing. He can count on one hand how many times he was allowed to hang an ornament on the statement piece in their living room.
He canât even celebrate the decorating victory, though, because heâs still trying to assemble the goddamn thing. Nine-foot trees really arenât meant to be set up by one person. At least, thatâs what Steveâs learning as he tries to balance the next segment of the tree over his shoulder as he climbs up the ladder.
Focused on not falling, Steve doesnât hear the front door open or the stomps of boots coming into the room. It isnât until Eddie tuts does Steve startles, nearly toppling over.
âWoah, there big boy,â Eddie teases, reaching out to steady the ladder. âDonât fall.â
âDonât scare me then,â Steve snaps. It takes a moment, but he manages to get the next piece into the slot before carefully climbing down the ladder.
âChrist, someoneâs feisty today,â Eddie says, hands up in surrender. âI guess itâs a good thing you bailed on me and Wayne to uhâŚâ He glances at the half-assembled tree in the middle of the room. âWhat are you doing exactly?â
Steve rolls his eyes. âBuilding a stupid Christmas tree.â
âIâm sorry, you what?â Eddie asks, shaking his head. âYou canât build trees. You grow trees.â
Steve snorts. âItâs an artificial tree, Eds. My mom called as I was headed out to your place. Said I needed to get the stupid thing up and fluffed before she got home tonight because she needs a full three days to decorate the damn thing for the annual Harrington Holiday House party.â
âThis thing is blasphemous!â Eddie says, circling it like a predator stalking its prey. âI thought rich people love Christmas trees. Donât you like custom order the biggest one to show off your wealth?â
âUh, no? My mom says real trees make too much of a mess.â
âWait, wait, wait,â Eddie says, abandoning the tree as he stalks towards Steve. âYou mean to tell me youâve never had a real tree before? Is that what youâre telling me?â
âYouâre being weird,â Steve says, shaking Eddieâs hands off his shoulder.
âI am not being weird. Youâre being weird. Youâve never had a Christmas tree! Do you even know what they smell like? Steve, you havenât lived until youâve smelt a freshly cut down Christmas tree!â
âJesus, I didnât know you were so passionate about this,â Steve snorts.
âYou think this is bad. Wait until I tell Wayne. Heâs going to flip out!â
âWayne has never flipped out in his life.â
âYeah, well, thereâs a first for everything.â Eddie crosses his arms and then immediately uncrosses them, clapping his hands instead. âThatâs it. Youâre coming with us this year. Donât make plans for next Friday! Iâm stealing your Christmas tree virginity.â
âDonât say it like that,â Steve groans, wrinkling his nose. âBut fine, Iâll go with you. If you help me with this thing.â
âI donât think thatâs a fair trade-off, Stevie.â
âYeah, well, I donât really give a shit,â Steve says, bending down for the next segment of the tree. âNow grab an end.â
Steve yelps when he feels a firm hand squeeze his ass. All it takes is one deathly glare over his shoulder for Eddie to stop cackling and get serious.
đ đ đ
âIâm going to sue your family,â Eddie whines, collapsing on the couch a few hours later.
âDonât be a baby,â Steve scolds before dashing off into the living room to grab a couple of beers.
âExcuse me! That thing attacked me! Multiple times! Look at the evidence,â Eddie shouts, yanking up the sleeves of his Hellfire shirt to examine a dozen or so scratch marks up and down his forearms. âAnd donât even get me started on my hands! How am I supposed to play guitar, Steven!â
âI told you to wear gloves,â Steve shrugs, returning to the room. He passes Eddie the cold can of beer before sinking into the couch beside him.
âI shouldnât need gloves because you shouldnât need to fluff a tree! They already come fluffed because theyâre not rotting away in a box all year.â
âYou poor thing,â Steve playfully tuts. âGuess I canât hold your hand now since theyâre so beaten up.â
âI never said that,â Eddie squawks as he yanks Steveâs hand into his own.
They sit in silence after that. Nursing their beers as the Christmas tree stands in its makeshift glory in front of them. Steve can tell which side he fluffed and which side Eddie did. The giant gap between the top two layers is obvious, and he knows heâs going to have to climb the ladder and fix it before his mom gets home, but thatâs a problem for future Steve. Right now, he wants to sit here with his boyfriend even if his boyfriend is gearing up for another faux Christmas tree rant.
âDonât tell me your mom is one of those people who only puts those stupid decorative ball things on the tree, too.â
âWhat do you think?â Steve says, hiding his smile behind the can of beer.
âJesus H. Christ!â
đ đ đ
It takes a bit of convincing and a formal invite from Wayne, but Steve keeps up his end of their deal, joining the Munsons on their quest for the perfect Christmas tree for the trailer.
Eddie has a habit of embellishing when he tells stories, but Merrillâs farm lives up to all the hype. As done, the process of selecting and chopping down the perfect tree. Steve gets stuck being the tie-breaking vote when Wayne and Eddie end up arguing over which tree to bring home. Naturally, Eddie throws a minor fit when Steve sides with Wayne, whining that he likes him better than his own boyfriend, which has Wayne rolling his eyes.
Steve gets to make the first chop but passes the ax off quickly. He doesnât want to impede on their tradition any more than he has. Besides, axes have never been his thing. He prefers to swing bats instead.
âSee, isnât this much better than building a tree?â Eddie asks, slinging an arm over Steveâs shoulder as they stand off the side while Wayne pays.
âIt definitely smells better.â Steve inhales deeply, scents of pine and hints of peppermint flooding his senses. Someone should bottle this stuff up and sell it as a cologne, he thinks. Heâd definitely wear it.
âItâs easier, too.â
Steve scoffs. âSpeak for yourself! Youâre not the one who helped Wayne drag it all the way up here.â
Eddie laughs, eyes sparking mischievously. âWait until you have to help him load it into the truck. Thatâs always the worst part.â
Steve eyes his boyfriend through squinted eyes. He ducks out of Eddieâs grasp and settles his hands on his hips. âYou set me up! You just brought me here so you wouldnât have to do manual work!â
âYou wound me, Harrington,â Eddie gasps, clutching a hand over his heart as he staggers backward. âHow can you think so lowly of me.â
âBecause I know you, Munson,â Steve teases.
âAlright, alright, fine,â Eddie says, slinking over to Steve. âMaybe I had ulterior motives, but it's only fair after what I suffered helping you with that abomination you call a tree. At least now youâve experienced a true Christmas tree experience.â
Steve canât help but laugh, shaking his head as Eddie beams proudly at him.
âReady to go, boys?â Wayne asks, rejoining them. They both nod, watching as Wayne makes his way over to the heavier side of the tree.
âYou donât have to carry it, Wayne,â Steve says, mischievous flooding his own veins. âEddie and I will carry it to the car.â
âYou bastard!â
âHey,â Wayne scolds, swatting Eddieâs shoulder. âNo swearinâ âround kids. I ainât raise you like that.â
Steve bites the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing as he watches Eddie sigh dramatically before carefully shoving Wayne away from the tree. He waits for Eddie to follow his lead, squatting down before he counts them off. On three, they hoist the tree over their shoulders and start heading back out to the car.
đ đ đ
âSo, what do you think?â Eddie asks later, passing Steve a mug full of Wayneâs signature hot chocolate. âIs it better than your tree?â
Steve knows the answer immediately, but he takes a moment. Wants to make Eddie squirm as he admires the tree in front of him. Itâs not perfect. Itâs a little crooked, and there are hundreds of pine needles littering the floor. The lights are bright, though, and the branches are full of homemade and sentimental ornaments that span decades. A homemade star sits on top in lieu of the traditional angel. A star, Eddie tells him, he and his mom made by themselves the year before she got sick.
Itâs perfectly imperfect.
His own traditional, straight out of the pages of a Home and Garden magazine doesnât stand a chance against this one.
âYeah, Eds. Itâs better than my tree.â
âVictory!â Eddie shouts, nearly spilling his hot chocolate all over himself.
đ đ đ
A month later, Steveâs belly is full of the Munson Christmas feast, but instead of lazily lounging on the couch enjoying his food baby, heâs carefully taking ornaments off of the dead Christmas tree that nearly caught fire twice since heâs been here.
âI take it back,â Steve says, carefully taking an ornament off of the dead tree. âArtificial trees are better.â
âThey are not!â Eddie whines, wrapping the ornaments Steve hands him in tissue paper.
âI donât know, Eds. Iâve never had to take down a tree on Christmas before!â he grumbles, reaching for another ornament. âThis sucks.â
âItâs all your fault. If you chose my tree, it would have lived for another week! I just know it.â
âSure it would have,â Steve snorts.
âLook on the bright side, at least we have firewood for the New Year's Eve bond fire now. We canât do that with your stupid tree.â
âNope, because I get to use my tree again next year, and you have to buy a new one. Think thatâs another point for fake trees.â
Eddie screeches, wrapping his arms around Steveâs middle and tugging him off the ladder and onto the couch. Despite their full stomachs and tired eyes, they wrestle and laugh as Wayne shakes his head from the doorway, a light cigarette perched between his lips.
âCut it out, you too,â he scolds when things get more heated between them. âNeed it out before it really goes up in flames.â

Stevie huddled, shivering, under her house-swapâs thickest duvet.
When sheâd left LA for her âholidayâ near London, nobody warned her the heating hadnât been updated in centuries. Nor that it was a âflatâ in a crumbling Victorian mansion, with traffic roaring by constantly.
Not that sheâd sleep tonight. It was 4pm back home! She mightâve placed half the world between her and Jason, but sleeplessness still equalled wrathful piningâŚ
A door rattled.
Crap! What was that?
The flatâs front door creaked open. In the half-light, her frantic gaze alighted on a hockey-stick. What were the laws on self-defence in this crappy country? She hid behind the bedroom door, waited till they neared, thenâŚ
Crack!
âBloody Hell!â yelped the burglar. Stevie hadâstupidly?ânot hit hard. Chiefly, because the guy was sexy-as-fuck. âYouâre not Chrissy!â
âChrissy? No, Iâmââ
âWorld-famous supermodel Stevie Harrington! Why are you in my sisterâs flat?â
âYour sister?â The hockey-stick slipped from her trembling hands. Heâd got long dark hair and obscenely beautiful eyes.
He rattled a door-key: âSee?â
âOh shit,â she mumbled. âNot a burglar.â
âNo. Um, sorry, but Iâm inordinately pissed and⌠really need the loo.â He grimaced, hopping toe-to-toe. âMay I?â
When he returned, she gave him ice for his bruise, and he slumped on the sofa. After learning about the house-swap, Eddieâas he introduced himself over brandyâexplained how Chrissy wanted to escape her loneliness following a break-up.
âYeah,â sighed Stevie. âI relate.â
Eddieâs sad smile touched and intrigued her. Before she dared ask, he winced at his cell. âTen missed calls from Chrissy. Iâm a terrible brother.â
âYeah? I should sue her for false advertising.â Stevie sat down beside him to share the house-swap pics, which he explained were taken on a rare snow-day.
âSeriously, youâre not gonna sue her?â
Her turn to wince. He was intense, clearly super-protective of Chrissy, which made her sigh inwardly. He was literally the anti-Jason. âI wonât. Iâm leaving tomorrow.â
âPlease yourself. Honestly, South London is cool. Jude Law grew up nearby.â Stevie shrugged. âThe Stones? David Bowie?â
âBowie? Wow!â
Eddieâs smile finally lit those eyes. He sent a Bowie playlist to Chrissyâs speakers, while leaning dangerously into Stevieâs personal space. Or was she being pulled, magnet-like, into his?
Warmth blossomed in her chest, radiated out with every beat of her heart. They were laughing and joking and⌠her focus flitted to Eddieâs lush lips.
His slid⌠lower.
âHonestly,â he said, in that totally-growing-on-her accent, âthese days, Bromley is considered pretty desirable.â
He stared so hard at her cleavage, she gasped.
âSorry.â He discarded his brandy, pinched his brow. âThis is weird. Me hanging with Stevie Harrington.â
Stevie sighed. âYou think Iâm shorter in real life?â It was one of Jasonâs fave put-downs.
âNo.â That smile again, and she was dying happy. âThe biggest surprise is your Winnie-the-Pooh PJs. I pictured you sleeping in baby-doll lingerie.â
Stevie blinked. He pictured that BEFORE we met?
Okay, she'd modelled slinky stuff, but⌠Dammit, sheâd barely had time to be embarrassed about Pooh.
âThis was gonna be a âme-break,ââ she flustered. âWasnât expecting company.â
âYeah, sorry. Again. Um⌠can I kip on the couch? Be gone before you wake.â
If Stevie had worn her matching Pooh slippers, her heart wouldâve plummeted through them. Then instantly skyrocketed. Eddie leaned waaaay too close again. Trouble was, even his beer-breath proved alluring.
âYeah, fine,â she stammered. âThoâ this sofa is tiny, andâŚâ She brushed her mouth against Eddieâs, the whispering ghost of a kiss.
âW-wow?â stuttered Eddie.
She licked her lips. He tasted boozy, but she liked. And omfg, what had come over her? Her knuckles caressed his cheek, trembling like she was the drunk one. âIâve never kissed a stranger before.â
His flirtatious snicker warmed-up long-neglected places inside her. âReally? I do it all the time.â
They tumbled into the next kiss, which heated, sizzled, lingered smoochily, till she asked, breathless: âSeeing as youâre super-hot, and Iâm leaving tomorrow⌠we should have sex.â
âStevie, youâre the hottest girl in the worldâsure youâre not a dream?â
They barely reached Chrissyâs bed before they fucked, with Bowieâs âHeroesâ cheering them on. Stevie had never done anything this spontaneous. And, for someone âsozzledâ, Eddie sure knew how to please a partner⌠over and over and over.
Eventually, Stevie watched him sleep, cursing her surging 'feels.'
This heartache was crazy. Why couldnât she enjoy a one-night stand? Eddie seemed sweet. Also, a stranger! She was on the rebound, still kinda pining⌠or was she?
Honestly, she felt closer to Eddie already than she ever had to Jason.
Stevie, youâre jet-lagged and over-emotional. Go home. To a fresh start.
And nope, she couldnât make that new life here.
Next morning, Eddie apologised about basically everything.
âChill,â said Stevie breezily, over their Deliveroo banana-chocolate crepes. âI had fun.â
Not gonna be clingy and tragic.
âStill leaving?â he asked, doe-eyed.
She nodded. Her chest panged, and it didnât help that Eddie resembled a kicked puppy. He fluffed his hair, awkward.
âStevie, listen. Firstly, that ex of yours who said you sucked at sex? Heâs a liar. Secondly, my life is really complicated.â Indeed, his cell bleeped with messages all night. Another reason Stevieâs âfeelsâ were madness. âBut⌠if you change your mind, Iâm having dinner later at the pub on the corner.â
The hug, and their tender farewell kiss, choked her up. Shit, she never fucking cried!
Her limo sat in traffic for two hours on its way to the airport. Three more, after Stevie demanded the driver turn back. In the pub, she got tons of stares in her cute cocktail-dress and even signed some autographs. When Eddie finally arrived, his surprised smile was beyond delicious.
âHey,â she said, deserting her Chardonnay.
âHello, Gorgeous.â He slid his hand to her waist, drawing her into a sensual kiss that was somehow comfortably familiar and the most startling, exciting thing ever.
She was definitely gonna stay the whole two weeks. Then⌠who knew?
