"They reached the roots of the maple tree and stared up at the tangle of ribbon that surrounded their star. "We could make another," Picket said, looking from side to side. Heather knew why he was nervous. "That ribbon isn't so easy to find, Picket," she said. "We can get it if we work together." The Green Ember; Chapter One: Heather and Picket Catch a Star Another Green Ember gesture illustration, this one if from the beginning of the first book. Look at them, they're such babies. ;o; I hope to finish this, but I'm not sure if I'll have the time to get back to it so I figured I'd go ahead and post this as is.

Hey! My favorite linguist!!! Do you know how to write out pronunciations of words? If so, could you help me? My mom is reading up on les mis and prounounced our favorite inspectors name as jarvit (the word jar emphasized, rhymes with “pit”).
Oh my gosh I don’t mean to laugh at your mom, but this is SO funny to me LOL like imagine the dialogue though, like >“I’m Jean Valjean!” >“And I’m (google translate voice) Jarvit” I’m practically crying right now omg
Anyway, yes!! I can indeed help :D there are two ways (Okay way more than two but two common ones) for writing pronunciation! The first is the IPA, which is more exact and looks like code, so it would be [ʒavɛʁ] (isn’t that cool?) and the second way would be to write it phonetically like this: [zha-ver] 😊 I can do all of the characters if you want! But I might not know how to actually pronounce them LOL
