starline's brand of fucked up is being exactly the kind of perfect person that the service industry wishes its human employees could be that is impossible to achieve. all its goals and wants are related to customer satisfaction and following corporate policy and because this is an impossible set of goals to achieve it is internally an emotional wreck.
rusty is the kind of coworker that corporate really likes, but that is also beloved (and met with feelings of concern) by its coworkers. constantly taking on more and more work, will cover a shift for anyone, is dependable and quite literally falling apart because of it.
starline wishes its coworkers gave a fuck about it more than anything but they don't because their wellbeing is just not included in its priorities at all.
