Here we are entering upon the second anniversary of this blog’s not so humble existence.
Two years ago this month, I sought out to create a side blog for Starco specifically. On my regular blog, I had been receiving headcanons for several months about my favorite pair. However a few followers did not appreciate the spam for a ship they saw as the definition of Heteronormativity. Since it was a month before the show officially launched it's first episode, and as of yet, the only Starco evidence we had was a gut feeling, a storyboard test, and some hand holding in the theme song. We may have been jumping the gun a little but I certainly didn't care.
It was the first Starco blog. A title I am very proud of. The first blog devoted entirely to trashy shipping for this show. Something that still holds to the myriad of headcanons this blog posts today, And what started out as a place to send Starco headcanons, AUs, and fanworks. Became it's own brand name, it's own Mecca, For quite a long time we were the top headliner, one of the two main blogs for the fandom. There was @svtfoeheadcanons for general show headcanons and theories and there was us, when you wanted to post a really sappy thing about Star and Marco and the spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp.
I added the first co-Admin, Yisi not two weeks in, to share the workload and because of her overload of Starco headcanons on her own blog. Together we became tour de force. Dani became another addition, mostly to stop her from anonymously sending us headcanons that included the running joke of this blog: What if Star died?
This question set a sort of precedent for what this blog became thence. A shitpost. A beautiful, somewhat dysfunctional, highly popular, quality shitpost.
No one is complaining. Because honestly when you're done over analyzing canon, crying over screenshots, writing your fix it fanfics, and getting that perfect angle of your favorite ship for your avatar. What are you left to do in the week (or year) of waiting time? That's where we came in. That was our job. To always have a good supply of AUs, fanfics, cute fanart, playlists, amvs, memes, and anything else to keep the hunger of fandom satisfied.
A lot has changed since this blog began. Admins have come and gone. Myself included*. We have become less of a fixture in the grand scheme of things. As @seddm and @skleero have become the main go-to fandom uncles for the big stuff, @spatziline and @moringmark and @anomalyah among others keep the fanart coming, and @mrevaunit42 and @axis2500 with fanfics that shorten the wait considerably. Not to mention AU makers like @breastforce and the long gone Bad Boy and Princess AU. It would seem our work has been rationed out. Still we remain. Or really they (the current admins) do. And I am greatful. Very grateful.
*For this was the other subject to touch upon, my absence. No my friends, this is not the joyous announcement of my return. And really I do not think it would be fair if I did return now. This blog is running quite tidily without me. You may be of two opinions on my departure.
1. I abandoned them
2. I was dragged away to live in a convent
Neither is true. Though my first departure was not ideal. I realized very frankly that I needed to focus on a lot different things in my life. I am an adult now, and truly I am battling one of the only real forces of evil (adult responsibilities). Time is something I do not have. (Fast wifi is another). And I realize now that since I have gone, although the split was painful, It was for the best. I went and I grew and it gave the dear ones here an opportunity to try their own capable hands at making this blog something even better than what I could have. And indeed they have.
Now it is a new start. For perhaps this blog has changed. Expanding it's ships to include all, officially. Several of which, we originated. (Another's thing I am proud of). At first I was a little distraught by this change. An end to an era. But then I realized, the show has changed too.
We are no longer crack shippers, grasping onto a theme song and a dream.
We are no longer making things up because of a nickname and a movie night.
We are no longer “ignoring the lore.”
Because we’ve come to a place that’s so important my friends.
The place where Starco and Shipping IS Star Vs the Force Of Evil, one in the same. The plot relies on it, we are no longer just something on the side.
Our shitposts are now plot relevant. What do you think of that?
We made it.
So I want to thank the Admins: Yisi, Dani, Ash, Momo, Atlas, Rea, Jade. And if he ever sees this, Nate. I love you. And I’m so grateful to you. I can't even express.
And then. I wanted to Thank YOU. The followers. Whether you followed today or the very first day I made this or any day in between.
You are so important, beautiful, wonderful, amazing. You are the blog. Your headcanons, fan art, fanfics, fanworks, and just great things in the tags. You are the reason this blog exists.
