Fun things I’m looking forward to:
I bought my baby niece socks with fruit rattles on the toes. I am currently waiting for her to finish her nap, then my sister is going to put the socks on miss ma’am and send me a video.
I am going to play guild wars 2 tonight. I have been spending a lot of time getting all the materials to craft a legendary sword (Bolt, if you’re familiar with the game) and I need two more ingredients to make a core ingredient and then it’s mine. This is gonna take weeks because one of the items requires World v World which I don’t really play, but anything for a sword that makes my footsteps into lightning puddles.
My birthday is coming up. So far my plans include kbbq with my friends, steak with my mom at a place that books out months in advance (but I lucked out and got a great reservation) and homemade ribs with my dad and step mom. Dad owns a meat smoker, and secret recipes plural for his ribs. Also on my birthday day, a game I’ve been incredibly hyped for releases. I’ve planned all my birthday celebrations to be before my birthday, because I will not be heard from for a while while I play this game lol.
I gave a stranger (the wife I’ve never met of a person I know) a recommendation for a tiny shop that carries yarn (through a post it note given to her husband) and she thanked me by giving me a bottle of peppermint oil and instructions on how to use it to keep bugs away (her husband must have told her about my insect phobia lol).
Every Saturday for the past eight years, my friends and I have hung out on a discord call. It is genuinely my favorite part of the week. I love my friends very much, and I will never not be grateful that we have this standing appointment with each other just to talk (for 10+hours lol).
My sister, brother in law, and niece are coming to visit. I can’t wait to see them. I can’t hog my niece, my dad and stepmom will also be there, but I am so excited.
My dad is into ballroom dancing. He wants me to try it. He is going to show me some basics since a major barrier to me trying new things in public is that i don’t like being perceived when I’m not good at something. So he and my step mom are willing to teach me some basics so I can feel more at ease in my skin. Also now I’m crying because holy shit it’s wild sitting and realizing that you’re loved to the point of being truly seen.
Have a good evening!!!
This is better than anything I could've hoped for. Seriously, I was smiling the whole way through! Happy early birthday, anon.
I love how much of your birthday is punctuated by meals with family members! And then video games. We have a very similar life vibe, I think. We were just at my sister-in-law's birthday dinner. She and her boyfriend have the exact same birthday, so we get to celebrate them together. They bought a little boat! Can't wait to join them on the water sometime.
I don't do discord calls (more chats than anything), but my husband does discord chats to keep up with friends hardcore. He's done it for well over a decade and we used to get together for a little friend vacation every couple of years. It can be such a great way to keep in touch. He makes chat dates that are non negotiable so I always have to check with his plans!
Last week I saw my nieces. One is old enough to have a 2 year old son, but he was visiting with her mom so she wanted us to come see her so she could cook for us and hang out. We had bolognese and a lot of great conversation (and then I blew all day Sunday at the beach).
Thanks for sharing all this, anon. Sometimes it hits me that I might've arrived at the life I wanted, somewhere along the line, almost by accident. I don't need much, just some people to love and laugh with and to go at my own pace. I'm happy for you.
