The latest acquisition to my everyday tool selection, this 1960â˛s vintage Stanley âTwo-Toneâ plane. It suffered from a few decades of neglect, but with a good deal of polishing and tuning, it now has a permanent home on my bench.
As far as the history of this jewel, I found out that the Stanley âTwo-Toneâ line was a series that ran concurrent with other types from the â50â˛s to 60âs and possibly as late as the 1970â˛s. They were somewhat similar to the standard Stanley planes, but with cheaper features and marketed in department stores and other non-traditional retailers.
I donât know a much at all about this line of Stanley planes, and there are other Stanley tools manufactured with the âTwo-Toneâ name, such as bit braces, chisels and screwdrivers. Iâve noticed that there is no logo cast into the lever cap, but it has âTWO-TONE by Stanleyâ stamped on the cutter.
