and okay this is more of a stretch but: i found it odd that Steve's ending was the most fleshed out afterwards, out of everyone. he's a coach,sex-ed teacher, is moving to forest hills (where Eddie lived and died), is still looking for love, gets a truck, a trailer and travels to visit his friends (he doesn't want to leave Hawkins because he really can't. he visits people who can't really visit him). everyone else's ending was pretty vague or just has a few details. almost like they were writing up a "happier" ending, just for him.

Steve is given his own trust fund and isn't told about his adoption until he's old enough to inherit his fund. Lots of puzzle pieces click into place for him (especially the lack of parental affection he had growing up) and he feels sick at the fact that he was basically sold, but desperately wants to meet his birth parents (which he had at some party as a child but doesn't remember). Turns out his birth parents actually stayed together all this time! They agree to meet him but make sure to make it clear they are still not interested in being parents, but would really like to be his friends.

So, he gets a kitten. A ragdoll,with large curious blue eyes, named Maggie. A ball of fluff who chirps at him when he comes home from work,bites his hair when Steve's sitting on the couch after a shower, accidentally slices him with her claws when she gets the zoomies at 3am, and is a little cuddle buddy who watches tv with Steve every night during dinner (and cries pitifully, and tries to stick her paw in his plate,whenever Steve eats chicken so he just HAS to share). He even takes Maggie on roadtrips to visit Dustin, and everyone in PA.
