i was just thinking about how if stranger things final season really was supposed to be like a play within a play/show within a show (as others have theorized based on character "cast" credits on s5 merch posters), then Steve's red bandana had extra meaning, right? he's the only one wearing one, i believe, who wears one into the upside down during the final journey. doesn't pulling out a red handkerchief in a stage production allude to blood/death? maybe that black screen when he fell was the cut between what really happened and didn't, right when everything turned to shit.
and okay this is more of a stretch but: i found it odd that Steve's ending was the most fleshed out afterwards, out of everyone. he's a coach,sex-ed teacher, is moving to forest hills (where Eddie lived and died), is still looking for love, gets a truck, a trailer and travels to visit his friends (he doesn't want to leave Hawkins because he really can't. he visits people who can't really visit him). everyone else's ending was pretty vague or just has a few details. almost like they were writing up a "happier" ending, just for him.
