✖️ Day 12: Gear Or Gear [TRIGGER WARNING: ZIPTIES!!] How about gears turned into gear? Car broke down just as we were about to leave for 2015 @capcrossclassic, so after a brief mental 🤯🤬🤪 #thebug and I stuffed everything into an UberXL and made our way to the race! Unfortunately, we got there just as my field had started so the alternative plan was to at least get one race in which meant singlespeed. I’ve ridden my track bike for well over a decade so one speed wasn’t new, but I was NOT prepared for what that meant on a CX course, much less the altitude changes at Lake Fairfax. After a few pre-rides I found a gear that was 👌🏻 and got ready. As I was about to line up I realized I hadn’t ziptied it yet! Panic set in as I bummed one off @cxhairs which led to me second guessing my gear selection, shifting one down, then sealing the deal. Obviously this was good for the flats and downhills but HOLY SHIT my legs weren’t ready for that despite an entire season of racing in them. I managed to double cramp full lock up on both legs but somehow got them working again enough to finish. Turns out that was the most fun I had all year and opened me up to doing more #sscx in the future.
