-She has a sibling figure named Poka (it/its pronouns, it’s also my friend Nugget’s OC!), a dark grey robot monkey who is like one big talking paintbrush party animal. Sardonyx and Poka were two prototype robot monkeys the alchemist made before the silver monkey and the 6 other monkeys… One of them was too strong (Sardy) and the other was too weak (Poka), which provided him a middle ground for the other monkeys that came after. Somehow, these two managed to escape on their own (they were just young and dumb and the alchemist wasn’t looking one night, i guess…) prior to the other monkeys being made and mostly lived in the jungle for most of their early life.. Sardonyx always looked out for their sibling especially in a state of survival. Once the jungle life became too much, Sardonyx in her weakest state was recruited by the skeleton king to join his army as he saw great potential in her power. Poka would be able to come along too as they were inseparable, only under the condition that it also serves him on a lesser scale. Sardonyx did most of the fighting, she was a killing machine really, along mandarin’s side!! She only became good I would say shortly after skelemandarin’s first appearance... SO these two were serving evil only to have a solid place of shelter and protection, as Sardonyx could not protect her sibling all on her own. They would sleep in a small corner of the citadel of bone together with their tails wrapped together.. she’s a little bit too protective over Poka and makes sure it doesn’t get manipulated by anything under any circumstance, as Mandarin has tried to mess with its mind many times before. As this kind of messes with canon lore, I kinda like to think that the silver skeleton (which could’ve probably been made for any of the monkeys really…) was a potential replacement body for Poka considering how physically weak it is…. And how Poka kind of is a silver monkey as well.

-Sardonyx eventually tried distancing herself from Poka because she didn’t want to “taint the kindness in its heart with the evil in hers”… despite being such a close duo they’re drastically different at this time. To this day she feels HORRIBLE for even getting Poka in all this mess, but she really thought being protected by an overlord would grant their survival… at least they were given eternal life and didn’t have to age “ugly” like mandarin did. Poka was more than accepting to take Sardonyx back in its life after she returned. She would always talk about these missions she was put through alongside Mandarin (definitely genocide) but didn’t want to go in detail in fear of scaring it.

-The hyperforce probably did have to fight Sardonyx once before she joined their side. Unlike mandarin, they had absolutely NO clue who this monkey and her defenseless sibling was.

-The reason she’s named Sardonyx, a gemstone, while being called the copper monkey is because when she was under sk’s control, she found herself with an overwhelming amount of pride and vanity, finding herself to be too courageous and powerful.. much like sardonyx jewels!! But after she was ridden off her high horse (either forcefully or through a change of heart) her self worth DEPLETED instantly. no power, no nothing, just living with the realization that she’s been going in the wrong direction this whole time. Copper, over time, rusts and decays and becomes something that resembles nothing like what it used to be. she knows after all she’s done, she should just turn green with decay and become a relic of the past.

-With the general ground/mineral motifs, she can manipulate the ground with her mace ball and chain whips in battle. One of her favorite hobbies is digging up and studying rocks on Ranger 7.

-For her human form, if she lived on earth she would be cypriot + kuwaiti. Even in her monkey form, I like to think she can speak the shuggazoomian equivalent of arabic.

-She’s a butch lesbian and has a one-sided crush with her “girlfriend,” Mama May. (My girlfriend, Vhamp’s OC.) There’s a lot of things holding her back from getting the girl.

-She’s more physically “buff” looking than the other monkeys, it’s very subtle but her chest and arms are wider with muscle. She feels a lot of physical and emotional isolation knowing that she doesn’t look quite the same as the other monkeys, almost disgraced...

-A good majority of her battle moves are in Arabic or Cypriot Greek. Despite her being multilingual, she speaks in a lot of middle + formal english when she speaks the language.

-As being inspired off of medieval executioners, she would, on Earth, take lots of inspiration from the Ottoman Empire, as the nationalities I think she is were once apart of it in the medieval times.

-She was a full-on carnivore under SK’s control, unknowingly relying on human meat as her main diet. She’s been trying hard to break out of this carnivorous lifestyle as it’s scarred her bad but she’s a very picky eater… she’s getting there. She would NOT survive wonder fun meat world. They’re taking my mentally ill monkey to rehab….

-Y’know how some of the monkeys are more specialized in specific topics (like how Otto is engineering, Gibson is science, etc). Sardonyx’s is history. She really loves the history of her planet and appreciates the beauty despite trying to destroy it at one point.

- Since her communicators are pretty much corrupted + rusted for good, she has trouble sending and receiving signals + can’t hear very well as is. She’s VERY sensitive to loud sounds and will shriek, grab her ears, etc the second she hears a too-loud explosion.

-Out of any of the robot monkeys, I think she’d get along with Gibson the most. They would quiz each other on history/geology trivia and he finds her a very useful teammate when it comes to willingness to listen.

-Her voiceclaim is the lead singer from the band Scarlet’s Remains. Any song from them is a good example to get a good idea of her voice. I think she speaks very sing-songy and melancholic while also having a pretty deep voice at the same time. She sings a lot when she feels lonely.

-She’s kind of like a mentor to Lyra (a timeskip chinmay fankid I made a while back! I’ll make a loredrop post for her later) and hides a LOT from her. She’s still a kid, she doesn’t need to know what Sardonyx has done in the past. Lyra’s parents are still very cautious and uncertain around her... They’re unsure if Sardonyx would become a Mandarin again. She doesn’t have an established battle station on the super robot, but does autopilot/oversee Lyra when she’s overwhelmed. (I like to think she inherits Chiro’s battle station or something. I don’t really think the monkeys would fight that much in the far future anyways IF they end up winning the intergalatic war. I don’t know that for sure.)

There’s not really an established timeline, she’s just a silly oc I decided to make on a whim. Feel free to ask any questions or anything! Here’s a few doodles I made with her a while back!!!
