@spurnedadulthood asked: “ i was wrong for thinking to keep it to myself. i hope you can forgive me ” [ for context, maybe kensuke received a threatening letter or something and he decided not to tell sonia because he didn't want her to worry -- ]

Sonia set the letter aside. Gently, as it would be, if needed, turned into the authorities as evidence and because she wanted, needed, to keep her frustrations managed. At thirteen it had been easier to shout, cry, and bemoan, but not at twenty-three and a full-fledged adult, a full-time working royal. Her composed exterior, however, hardly matched what currently simmered inside. Worry, concern, fear, and perhaps even a bit of anger.
She sighed instead, placing a hand on the edge of his keyboard though the portable instrument would do little to stabilize her. A piano maybe, but using his beloved instrument for both moral and physical support, Sonia guessed, would crush him. Why had he waited so long!?
"Do you know," She began, steeling herself for the questions she was about to unleash and the possibility that her boyfriend might not appreciate them, much less respond to them. "Do you know who sent this and why? Why have you aggrieved them so? If it is your music, surely your agency has protocols in place for addressing such issues but if...if it's because of your personal life, because of me-"
Several things seemed to settle upon her shoulders at once, the former Ultimate Princess sinking down into Kensuke's dorm room sofa. She wouldn't be permitted to stay for long, she was no longer enrolled at Hope's Peak and had a home of her own to return to in the city. But Sonia Nevermind, Princess of Novoselic, needed a moment to sort through the array of thoughts, of next steps, that crossed through her mind:
A rival musician or angered fan despised Kensuke enough to threaten his life if he did not change his entire livelihood.
A spurned former friend or lover (her assumptions drifted towards the latter though the rational part of her mind screamed the former) held a personal offense against him.
It had finally come out, one way or another, that Kensuke Hibiki and Princess Sonia of Novoselic were (not-so, apparently) secretly dating, and had been for several years. She'd worried at the beginning that their liaison being made public knowledge would make his professional, and personal, lives far more difficult, and that was simply due to press and public opinion alone. That didn't even factor in her family and all of the questions, discussions, and passive-aggressive comments regarding anything from his own family to his talent to his physical appearance as to why he was completely unsuitable as a partner for her.
The third option, naturally, was the one that frightened her the most, and Sonia Nevermind adored a good scare. She just preferred hers with chainsaws or demonic possessions or serial killers with a giant butcher's knife that never seemed to stay dead. Not blackmail, extortion, threats, and throwing her boyfriend in the direction of the proverbial wolves with no suitable preparatory efforts being made. The real horrors in life, she was certain, did not exist on the page or on screen: they unfolded over elegant dinners, public appearances, galas and balls and all the things fairy tales were made of.
"Kensuke-kun, please..." She begged, "Of course I forgive you. I always will. But you should have told me. I could have helped. I want to help you if I am able!"
