New episodes of HEnabled are out! Sometimes marketing with a disability can be tough so excuse the VERY belated post 😅 The following episodes are now out:
Pad's Story: Navigating university with a new ASD diagnosis.
Sam's Burning Questions: My friend Sam does not have any disabilities but wanted to learn more about disability in a judgement-free environment; I gave him a platform to do so in this episode.
Marie-France's Story: Getting reasobable adjustments in both university and internships with a late ADHD diagnosis.
You can listen to the show on Spotify here or wherever you get your podcasts! I would love to know what you think. A new episode will be out this Sunday!
Read this before commenting on someone’s weight loss...
Don’t do it.
There is never any valid reason why you would need to call out someone’s weight fluctuation.
This is true in general, and this is true for people with eating disorders;
A group, however, that often gets left out of this conversation are chronically ill spoonies that may have extended stays at hospitals where you don’t have control over your food; or they may be taking a medication that could literally be life/death... but a side effect can cause weight fluctuations.
There is a reason for or story behind everything. You are not entitled to the details of someone’s personal, medical life, unless they want to share it with you. Even then, you aren’t entitled to everything - only that which they are comfortable disclosing.
TL:DR Live your life, and let others live theirs. Trust me, you can do it, and you will be much happier that way. :) <333
It’s the scariest time ever once again. Starting new medication for my Rheumatoid Arthritis. Nothing is worse than when your medicine stops working. Until 2020 I was on Humira for 5 years and it was an absolute god send for me, unfortunately I built up antibodies. My rheumatologist and myself have played the waiting game, we went from Plaquenil to Simponi and then to Orencia. During this time I’ve had to fight insurance for approval, join savings clubs cause even with amazing insurance my copay was 500 for a month supply of Orencia before the savings program. Once you play the waiting game then you have to play will this work game, followed by what new side effects am I going to have. Orencia gave me excessive sebum production and I felt like a teenager again. Rinvoq looks to be a good option for me, it’s made by the company who made Humira, it’s in trials to cover a multitude of more conditions and my rheumatologist is thankful I’m a willing “lab rat” (My words not his) to help other patients in his practice who are afraid to start biologics and Dmards. Here’s to hopefully a fresh, joint pain free start. #rinvoq #rheumatoidarthritis #lupus #autoimmunedisease #spoonielife #spooniesupport #spooniestrong #ralife (at Marshall Cancer Care Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUxZjR8AhfP/?utm_medium=tumblr

#Repost @colourblind_zebra with @get_repost ・・・ Being undiagnosed doesn't make your pain any less valid 💊 . . Being undiagnosed can be extremely difficult. There's a culture surrounding medicine that we should only treat a patient if they have a diagnosis, rather than looking at the individual and treating them alongside doing investigations . . Pain and symptoms are often seen as invalid by some doctors if you are undiagnosed; "it's all in your head because you don't have a diagnosis and all the tests are coming back negative." . . The reason we seek a diagnosis in the first place is because we are suffering in some way or another. So let's treat it on a clinical basis while we search for answers . . #chronicillness #chronicpainawareness #endometriosis #endthestigma #chronicillnessawareness #chronicallyill #butyoudontlooksick #chronicpain #ibd #ibdawareness #spooniesupport #spooniefamily #invisibleillness #dysautonomia #potswarrior #flareup #chronicfatiguesyndrome #chronicfatigue #chronicpainwarrior #spoonielife #lymedisease #potsiestrong #fybromyalgia #spoonie #potssyndrome #chronicdisease https://www.instagram.com/p/B7O6-ttpyJx/?igshid=fpuqy5uiwrw1
