I've been thinking about Wind and Truth. Especially how it desperately tries to wrap up all the loose threads from the 4 preceding books.
In Rhythm of War, Kaladin snaps during his fight with The Pursuer and forms a connection with Odium, his eyes glowing red much like the regals and fused. Drawing on this power allows him to finally kill The Pursuer which is a big deal but it then very quickly gets overshadowed by the big oath swearing sanderlanche. But then in Wind and Truth we see the formation of the original Oathpact and learn it is able to bind Odium's power due to the connection each herald had to Odium from using its power on Ashyn. This is a really nice bit of internal consistency that lets you understand why it needed to be Kaladin, why the Wind chose him.
