It was 2010, I was in school. I just started watching this really cool show about two brothers hunting monsters. I binged through 5 whole seasons and eagerly waited for the sixth.
It was 2012, one of the worst years I've faced. People left, and I found some new friends. But the Winchesters remained my constants.
It was 2013 and every word that Sam said in the finale felt cathartic. His dialogue resonated with me and I cried as Dean hugged him and my pillow hugged me.
It was 2015 and Always Keep Fighting helped me hold on. It held my hand as I tried not to drown. I found people through the fandom who lifted me, listened to me and accepted me. I found my idjits.
It was 2017 and I moved out of my hometown, all on my own. New job, new city, new people. But the moment I saw Baby, I was home.
It's 2020. I'm now a teacher. I teach kids who are the same age as I was, when I discovered the show. As the filming comes to an end, it feels like the beginning of the end. The first of many lasts andany difficult goodbyes.
But this goodbye isn't to the Winchesters. Not to Team Free Will. Not to Baby. Not to SPNFamily. Not yet.
Part of the journey is the end, yet this isn't the final end. This is a "see you later" I have found inspiration and solace in this show and in the people who made it. I discovered so much through this show; I have grown with it and because of it.
Thank you, Supernatural for being my constant. For being my family, my comfort zone, my home.

I love this song, it has been a favorite of mine, and you should listen to it if you havenât because its good. I wanted to write a Dean story, and I felt that this song in this setting was Dean and not Sam.

âY/N, are you sure your good to close up buy yourself?â Carly asks, as she rounds the bar with her coat in hand and bag over her shoulder.
âYes, of course, I have closed up so many times, I could do it in my sleep, besides itâs dead in hereâ You say, giving her a reassuring smile, looking around the room, you only have three people in the whole place, which for a Wednesday night in this small town that says something. Normally it would be packed, but the nearby colleges in Detroit are out for summer break, so the number of customers has completely dropped.Â
âAlright, you going to ask that cute one over there for his number?â Carly asks in a hushed voice, leaning on the bar counter so only you can hear. You look to the stranger, sitting at the far end of the bar, close to the door. He is cute you think, short dirty blond hair in that âI just woke upâ messy look, his emerald green eyes, not focused on anything really, moving from the tv to his phone.Â
âI donât think I am his type, besides heâs probably just passing through, doesnât look like a localâ you say, wiping down the bar with a rag, and then sticking it in your back pocket.Â
âOh come on Y/N, you have to stop that, youâre hotâ she says, giving you a smile, looking back over at the stranger and then back to you, âbesides when was it that you had just some fun, a night of just letting loose? He looks like he could do that for you?â she says with a grin forming on her face.Â
It had been a whileâŠokay a few years, but in your defense, guys from this small town or who came into the bar, werenât looking to hook up with a girl like you. Your not model thin by any means, and as much as they love your personality, you always got the line of âYour such a great girl, laid back and funâ but it was the thought of seeing you naked that turn them off right quick, so you honestly stop trying.Â
âNo I think he would like you better, you should go for it?â you say, turning your back to Carly, to put a few glasses away. Looking at your watch it, 1 a.m., yes finally itâs getting to that time.Â
âI donât think so, night Y/Nâ she says, turning to walk out.Â
âNightâ you say over your shoulder. You look around and make the last call announcement, giving a quick glance over to where the mystery man is sitting, you notice that he gone, âwell missed out on thatâ you think. âHey last call everyoneâ you yell to the last two people in the bar.Â
This causes the last to stragglers to leave, well that was easy you thought, on a normal night it was a mad dash when you made last call to get their orders in. Heading over to the juke box, thinking you are alone, you play your favorite song.Â
Hitting a few buttons, âClosing Timeâ by Semisonic, the guitar riff breaks through the emptiness and you just stand their for a second letting the music fill your ears, God I love this song.Â
âWhat the hell!â you yell, turning around to see mystery man standing next to his chair behind you. your heart is beating a mile a minute.
âSorry, just came from the bathroom, you really play this to tell customers your closing?â he asks, picking up his beer and finishes it off.Â
âNo I made a last call announcement, you were goneâŠI thought,â you say, a little annoyed that he dissed your favorite song, and scared you. You head towards the bar, picking up the few remaining glassware on the table as you pass. âThought I was alone, do you want anything?â you ask, hopping he will say no and leave.Â
âSure, whiskeyâ he says picking up his beer bottle and following you to the bar where he takes a seat.Â
Of course he would want something you think, grabbing a glass you pour him a drink, âand this song is great how can you not like it?â you ask.Â
âItâs justâŠnot my favoriteâŠmore of a classic rock guy myselfâ he says, taking a drink and setting the glass down between his hands. His emerald green eyes lock in with yours, and you now notice how truly handsome and way out of your league he is. With his strong jaw that has the two day scruff, and a dusting of freckles along his nose and cheeks. Why is someone this gorgeous in a small town like this one, talking to me in a run down bar?Â
âWell you know the story behind the song right?â knowing that this was never going to go anywhere you figure might as well be nice, maybe get a big tip out of it. You start to do your nightly close behind the bar, as he ponders. Â
âNo, what?â he says, finishing up his drink and spinning the glass between his fingers on the bar.Â
âThe band needed a new song to close out their performances, and so one of the members wrote this, and when it came out, all the bars were using it, an that is how it got so popularâ you say, pouring him another drink.Â
âInterestingâ he says, giving you a nod of thanks for the drink.Â
âSo you got a name?â you ask, finishing up behind the bar, and wiping down a few tables. âI should probably know your name, you know cause I am letting you hang out here while I am closing up and allâ you say giving him a half smile.Â
âDean, and you sweetheart?â he asks, turning to watch you, feeling his eyes on you, normally you would be creeped out by something like this. For some reason Dean didnât make you feel that way. There was something about him that drew you to him instead of pulling you away. There was something about this man that you couldnât quite place, and then it hits you, you do know him. Â
âYouâre not from around here are you Dean?â you question, walking back over to him, you take a seat next to him. Sitting across for him, closer then you have been all night, you see the man your father has told you about. Â
âNope, just passing through on workâ he says, leaning into you, one hand on the bar the other draped casually over the back of the chair.Â
âWhat do you do?â you ask, looking at his attire, dress in jeans, a open red flannel shirt over a black t-shirt and leather jacket on the back of the chair, you know what he does, hell you know who he is. Keeping your face calm, not wanting to break, you want to see how long he will keep this up.Â
âummâŠfamily business, nothing excitingâ he says, avoiding the question, clearing his throat, he shifts his eyes downwards towards the floor.Â
You have meet a few over the years, passing through on the way to Detroit or Saginaw for hunts, or leaving the state. From what you can gather there are two types of hunters; those who want to tell you all about âwildâ stories after they had a few too many, to impress you, and those like Dean right now that would rather forget what they do. Â
âCool, I know about family businessâ you say, the gesturing around the room. Giving Dean a pass on telling you the truth, you decide that hopefully this information will help him piece it all together.Â
âThis is your bar? Youâre Y/N (your last name)?â he questions, giving you a inquisitive look.Â
âYep, it was my dadâs and he left it to meâ you say mater-of-fact, just bringing up your dad, makes you miss him even more. His line of âif their money green and the credit cards go through, no need bother them.â runs through your head, and you have to stifle a laugh, knowing that he was talking about hunters. Your dad telling you that they were mostly harmless and to just let them be.
âI knew your DadâŠhe was a great manâŠI am sorry to hear about him passingâ Dean says with sincerity. You can see it on his face, he means this, and it makes you happy. You also see relief wash over his face, now putting two and two together that you really know what he does, âSo you knowâŠâ
âYeah I know youâre a hunter Dean, I knew who you were the second you walked inâ you says, holding your smile for getting to big, you shake your head a lean over to grab the whisky bottle and another glass, pouring Dean another and you one.Â
âHowâŠâ he questions, taking a drink.
âDad told me about youâŠbest hunter out thereâ you say as casual as possible then taking a drink. Â
This line, causes Dean to choke a bit on his drink, he sets the glass down, trying to get air back in his lungs.Â
âUmmmâŠ.What?â he says, a bit off guard, you hand him your bar rag, and he takes it, wiping the whiskey that is falling off his chin.Â
âYeahâŠDad would talk about this hunter, Dean Winchester, legendary, best hunter out there, survived death so many times, has the reputation of making death his bitchâ you say as casual as possible as if this is a normal statement people make everyday.Â
Raising the glass to finish off your drink you watch as his breathing becomes normal and he trying to hide the pride that he feels about being call âlegendary.â Its a nice to see him trying to hold back, most guys would be so smug about it, Dad was right, Dean was a different kind of hunter.
âSo you know about the lifeâŠwell itâs not all glamour as these guys make it out to be sweetheartâ he says getting his confidence back, finishing up his drink in one motion. You watch him for a moment, letting the silence fill the room. You can tell heâs hurt, behind that hard exterior, is someone, a boy just wanting a break. Now you see it the circles under his eyes, the wear of the road getting to him. Jumping from case to case, he looks like he hasnât had a good night sleep in forever.Â
âNever thought it would beâ You state, wanting him to know that you understood the sacrifices that he and every hunter out there make, and for most it wasnât their choice to do this. âSo were you here for a hunt or coming for one?â you ask.
 âBoth, sweetheartâ he says.
I know who I want to take me home.Â
Take me home
You hear the song start to come to an end, the few final lines filling the silence, almost as it saying what you want, you want to go home, you want Dean to take you home. Just something about him, makes you want be with him, besides the whole sexy as hell thing that he has going on, itâs just talking with him. He was making you feel something you hadnât in a long time. You could feel your confidence rising or was that just in your mind?
âI think I should be going, let you get out of hereâ he says, reaching for his wallet, to pay, you put a hand up to stop him.Â
âKeep itâ you say, with a smile, trying to not look to defeated that he is cutting the night off short, you get up and start to walk away, trying to shake off the disappointment, âcome on Y/N, you know how this ends.â
âI canât do thatâ he says, pulling out some money and setting it on the bar underneath his empty glass, you quickly see thatâs all he has left in his wallet. He gets up, and shrugs on his jacket.Â
âWhere you crashing tonight?â you ask, not sure why, just something inside you doesnât want him to go just yet.Â
This causing him to look up at you, âummâŠnot sure yetâŠthink there a motel down the street?â
âYeahâŠalong with disgusting old beds, and cold waterâ you say, setting down your rag, âWait hereâ you tell him, as you go to the back to grab your jacket and bag. You come back out to see him standing there waiting, you walk over towards him, picking up the money in the process and handing it back to him.Â
âWhatâŠâ he starts to protest, but you cut him off, your fingers just lightly touch his when handing him the money.Â
âI know you would have saved him⊠if you would have been hereâŠhe was just in the wrong place at the wrong timeâ you whisper to him, looking down at his hand and yours, the pulse that youâre feeling, just wonât go away. This statement catches him off guard again, you look up to see his emerald green eyes staring intensely back at you.
âI was just one day behindâŠâ he starts to explain, but you hold a finger up to stop him, you didnât want to hear it, not tonight.Â
Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end
That line runs through your head, not sure what comes over you, but you lean in, giving him a light kiss on the check, âcome home with me, Deanâ He looks at you, as if this is coming out of left field, and you know that you have to make it clear what you want, âI mean as a friendâŠGod your cute and all, but give a girl some creditâ you say, pulling away from him, walking past him.Â
As much as you want him, in every possible way, youâre smarter then that, a friend is what you need, itâs what you think he needs right now. No point in messing it up, when you know that he will never want you that way anyways. You reach the door, and turn back to see him watching you.Â
âYou coming?â you ask, pushing the door open with your hip and letting the cool fall air come in.Â
You meet Dean Winchester in a bar when he attempts to come to your rescue after a drunk Alpha tries to take advantage of you.  He quickly realizes youâre not what he expected.  Youâre a very independent Omega who is used to speaking her mind.  Heâs all Alpha, but there is just something about you, an attraction that makes him want to know moreâŠâŠ.

Part 1 (All parts are linked)
Master List
With my need for Dean temporarily satisfied, I was able to think clearly for the moment.  âWe need to talk about this,â I said quietly. Dean sat down next to me, his nostrils twitching at the scent of my heat. He canât seem to control himself, and he starts nuzzling my neck, his lips ghosting over the spot where he claimed me.
âDean. You have to focus, baby. Look at me.â My words come out with a breathy little moan and he growls before his lips meet mine. As they do, I see that his pupils are blown black with lust, the green barely visible. Heâs rutting badly. Â
âLater. We can talk later,â he mutters before he pulls me into his lap, his big hands grasping my hips hard enough to leave bruises. And then my heat is consuming me and I am in a frenzy for his touch and we both are swept away, all rational thought going out the window.
We spend the next three days in an endorphin-fueled haze until my heat and his rut finally burn themselves out. I am exhausted and sore and doubt I will be walking normally anytime soon. I collapse into his arms and we sleep like the dead until my growling stomach wakes me up.
When I open my eyes, he is watching me, but his gaze is clear so I know his rut is over.  âHow long have you been awake?â I say sleepily.
âLong enough to know Iâm starving.â Dean answers. âHow about I make us some breakfast?â
I give him a surprised look. âYour gonna cook for me?â
Dean rolls his eyes. âYou know, Y/N, I did manage to feed myself before I met you. I may not be a chef, but I get by. I make a mean scrambled egg.â He says, flashing me that sexy grin of his.
âIâm just not used to guys cooking for me is all,â I whisper, feeling incredibly self-conscious.
âIf you want to grab a shower Iâll have breakfast ready when youâre done.â He tells me, kissing me quickly before jumping up and heading to the kitchen.
I feel like a new woman after a hot shower, and I smile as I hear Dean singing âTraveling Riverside Bluesâ off-key in the kitchen. I stand in the doorway for a minute, just watching him. Even with bedhead and three days growth of beard, he is the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen.
Dean slides a plate of eggs and toast toward me, clearly proud of himself. I take a bite, and then another. The eggs are hot and creamy and super cheesy, just the way I like them. I moan with happiness, and Deanâs eyes darken.
âHow do you do that?â
I look up from my plate of happiness, confused. âDo what?â
âIâve just spent the past three days fucking you seven ways to Sunday, and all it takes is that little moan you do, and I am hard as a freaking brick.â He replies, and suddenly the lightness is gone, and we are reminded there is unfinished business.
We eat in silence for a few minutes before I finally speak.  âSo are we going to talk about this?â I ask, pointing towards the claiming bite on my neck with my fork.
His shoulders tense subtly, but I still notice it.  âI didnât plan on doing it. I just couldnât control myself.â He says quietly, not meeting my eyes.
I immediately assume the worst. He doesnât want me. He didnât mean to claim me and now heâs stuck with an Omega he doesnât want. I feel like Iâm going to be sick. I push the plate of eggs away from me as if they are poison. I donât know what to say to him when he grabs my wrist.
âLook at me, Omega.â He commands. I look up, and the tears that I have been trying desperately to hold back spill down my face. âY/N, please donât cry. Let me finish. I wasnât planning on claiming you now, not during my first rut with you. But let me be clear. You are mine. I just wanted to do it when I wasnât out of my mind with rut. But I donât regret it, not for one second. I love you.â
I am out of my chair so fast Dean barely has time to catch me before I tumble into his arms. â I love you too, Alpha.â
âYour brothers are gonna have a field day with this,â Dean mutters against my hair and we both laugh.
I decided not to say anything for the moment about Dean claiming me. I was always honest with Babi, so when my heat started, I had texted her and told her I needed a few days off and why. She was an Omega, she understood how it was.Â
I left out the part about Dean being in rut. She replied she was happy I had a handsome Alpha to help me through it and to let her know when I would be back to work. She must have told the twins to leave me alone because I didnât hear from either of them.
I got to work early because I wanted to get a head start on things since I had been out. There were certain items on the menu that only I made, and I knew we would be running low.Â
I made sure to wear one of my uniforms with a higher neck so no one would see Deanâs claiming mark. I didnât want my family asking questions that I wasnât ready to answer.
I was elbow deep in flour when Cas and Meg came in.  âYou look like your feeling better,â Meg said with a sly grin.  âCanât imagine why.â
I glared at her and rolled my eyes in Casâ direction. Babi must have told her. Damn her! âMuch better. Thanks for asking.â
âPlease tell me your making pie. Weâre just about out of everything.â Cas told you as he hung up his coat.
âHello to you too, Brother Dear,â I said sarcastically. âIâm touched to see how much you missed me.â
âI missed your baking skills, anyway,â Cas said with a grin as he dodged the dough ball I lobbed at his head.It was really busy, and I was rushing around like a madwoman trying to catch up on all the stuff that needed to be done. I was still worn out from my heat, so by late morning, I was losing steam. I should have taken a break and eaten something, but I didnât want to spare the time when there was so much to do.
I was filling the bakery case up front with some freshly baked pies when I heard a mocking voice speak from behind me.  âWell if it isnât the little Omega tease.âÂ
I whirled around, ready to clock any dick that spoke to me that way. My eyes widened. It was that guy Barry from Deanâs garage. Great, just what I needed today! âWhat do you want?â I snapped.
âIâm getting lunch. Thanks to you Winchester looks at me like he wants to snap my neck whenever he sees me.â Barry said with a sneer.
âGuess you shouldnât have touched me then,â I said with a shrug, outwardly calm but inwardly seething.
The next second, both my brothers were standing next to me in full Alpha mode, blue eyes blazing with anger. âWhat did you just call my sister?â Jimmy demanded.
âSheâs your sister?â Barry questioned.
âYes, she is,â Cas confirmed.
âI called her a damn tease. Why else would she come into a garage full of Alphas when sheâs in heat, looking so damn hot? She got Winchester so worked up she drove him into rut and he almost killed me.â Barry snapped.
âThatâs it!â Cas exploded. âYou need to leave, now! If I see you in here again, I will tell Dean you were bothering his Omega and he will kick your ass!â
âYou heard my brother, Barry. Get the hell out! Dean wonât have to kick your ass because I will! Now go!â I told him furiously.
Barry looked at the three of us and realized he was seriously outnumbered, so he turned and walked out without even waiting for his food. I finished putting the pies away and turned to the twins. âThanks, guys. He is an asshole. Iâll talk to Dean about him.â
Jimmy and Cas exchanged a look without speaking. One of their âtwin telepathyâ looks, I called it. Â
âSo are you going to tell us what happened?â Jimmy finally asked in a tight voice.Â
âNo, Iâm not. Itâs really none of your business.â I told them over my shoulder as I went back into the kitchen.
Jimmy and Cas left me alone for the moment, but knowing the twins like I do, I knew this wasnât the end of this. They wanted answers, and they wouldnât stop until they got them. They were tenacious little bastards when they wanted to be.It was late afternoon, and I had been going nonstop since Iâd gotten there. It was just easier to keep going to avoid talking to Cas and Jimmy. I was in the walk-in refrigerator gathering some ingredients I needed to make quiche. Iâd grabbed some eggs, cream, and some fresh herbs and as I stretched to grab butter from the top shelf, I got very dizzy.
The ingredients fell to the floor of the walk-in as I felt myself start to pass out. I made a quick grab for the metal shelf but I couldnât get a grip, and my head hit the edge of it hard as I went down. The ragged gash in my forehead began to bleed profusely, my blood mixing on the floor with the cream and the broken eggs.
I never even heard Jimmy open the walk-in door and scream, âCas, come quick!â at the top of his lungs. What happened next is all a big blur. I donât remember Babi coming, 911 being called, or the ambulance ride to the hospital. I donât even remember falling. One minute I was getting ready to make quiche, and the next minute I wake up in the hospital with one mother of a headache.
âWhat happened? Why does my head hurt?â I ask groggily.
âYou passed out at work and hit your head. You have a concussion and a nasty gash that needed stitches and you are dehydrated. I suspect you havenât eaten anything today, have you?â Babi grills me.
âI just had so much to doâŠâŠâ I began.
âYou are the most stubborn girl I have ever met! Youâre weak from your heat. You know how important it is to eat, and especially to drink lots of water. Havenât I taught you better than this?â Babi scolds me, and I feel like I am nine years old again.
âHas someone called Dean?â I asked quietly.
âHeâs on his way,â Cas says in a hard voice. I look at him strangely.
âSpeaking of Dean, we saw the mark on your neck, Y/N. Do you have something you want to share with the class?â Jimmy asks in a very soft voice that hints at his barely restrained fury.

Dean actually made Cas cry!!!! This has to be one of my top favorite scenes of the whole series.. when Cas finally realizes he is a Winchester and is loved (especially by the one he loves most) I love the acting done by Misha and Jensen đđŒ I am honestly super excited to see Jensenâs acting abilities pushed to the max in the S13 opener
Itâs amazing how the song matches with these scenes; like, we all know what Dean was saying to his mum in this scene and it just makes so much sense, I canât.
