Things that people who didn't play splatoon one missed and I silently cry for you
-amazing mid transformation frames
-carbon roller with burst bombs and the stronger carbon roller in general. It's godly.
-Squid jump. 100% the best way to wait for a match
-Blinding lime green
-The stupidity and adorableness that is saltspray rig.
-kraken
-the joy of your whole team saving up and letting off one of these bad boys at the last second of a match.
-plus a map always open in your hands.
And of course actually knowing everything that in the next two games they reference to the first game. Agent 3, important sunken scrolls, etcetera.
look, i only really got into splatoon in 2020
but…i do have this relic on my wii u
i remember that i just so happened to download this in the time span it was available but never actually gave it a shot until the testfire ended, so when i tried to play it it just gave me an error screen so younger me thought: “omg this free demo totally just scammed me >:0” so i made it it’s own folder at the end of the wii u menu affectionately titled “banished games”, made the folder black to emphasize my contempt, and then oh so brutally put it all the way at the back out of anger
tldr: i’m something of a splatoon veteran myself 💪

after replaying the splatoon one story mode, i can’t unsee the dome shape of the kettles!
in one sunken scroll #2 the octarians are stated to live deep underground, and when you look up at the sky, it kind of looks uncannily fake, especially when compared to that of the inklings
in addition, if you pay attention, you can actually see the artificial light sources within the domes, presumably that they’re stealing the zapfish to power
