Thank you for your patience, and thank you for sending in this ask! Personally, I have read a few, but here are also some with interesting concepts based on my perusing. I’ve also added early 80’s fics, I hope you don’t mind.

Mirrors of Mind and Flesh (TOS, 20652 words) by GayleF

In a magical cave, Kirk and Spock meet each other’s mirror counterparts in what might be dreams.

"Mirrors of Mind and Flesh" was originally published as a stand-alone print fanzine novel in 1979.

This one is very erotic btw, and its accompanied by the original art from the fanzine I think? Very interesting.

Shelter (TOS, 6904 words) by LeslieFish

After their shuttle craft explodes, Kirk, Spock and McCoy seek shelter in a cave. While they await rescue, a badly injured, delirious Spock expresses his deep longing for an emotional relationship with Kirk. Originally published in "Warped Space 20" -- 1976.

This is personally one of my favorites, and it has a sequel as well. Fun fact, this author is still active/active recently— they have this really nice long form TOS mission fic published in 2021!

The Hustler (TOS, 11760 words) by seagray

Cadet Spock decides to investigate a well-known pleasure house where he buys the services of a young man who turns out to also be a starfleet cadet.

Originally published in 1981 in the print fanzine "Out of Bounds".

This was a very interesting read. Very well written tension between the two. Sexual? Romantic? Antagonistic? Won’t tell you, go read it for yourself!

Have Another Good Night! (TOS, 12839 words) by K S T’Lan

Kirk is tortured by his close contact with Spock on shore leave and duty after realizing his desire for the Vulcan in his dreams

It’s kinda cute, yeah HAHAHA. Not as bad as the warnings would have indicated.

Nightvisions (TOS, 103968 words) by Susan K James

When Kirk is blinded by a Tholian weapon, Spock leaves the service to stay at his side.

“Nightvisions”, a print fanzine published in 1979 by Pulsar Press, is the first full-length K/S novel ever published.

Our heartfelt thanks to our friend Pam I. She has shared our dream, and the labours of our love, and with her help NIGHTVISIONS came to see the light of day. And to Merle—She knows why, and we won't forget....

This is what I’d call a fandom classic— there’s a whole fan lore page on this one, even. Mixed reviews, but definitely a cornerstone of classic K/S

Chess (TOS, 2557 words) by CataleneMara

Together after V’Ger, Kirk and Spock must give voice to the feelings both have denied.

Originally published in 1981 in the print fanzine “Cheap Thrills” #2

Now THIS is everything a girl could want after reading TMP. READ IT ITS GOOD.

Nominations are open for the Kirk/Spock Philon Awards! Fanworks (fic, art, podfics) completed between August 1, 2025 and July 31, 2026 are eligible. I made the following filters for myself, to look through the eligible fic for each category and thought I'd share them here for others. They are not perfect, but hopefully a decent first pass. SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS on what is/isn't included:

Category: Ficlet --- (word count under 1,000) - about 311 stories

Category: Short Fic --- (1K–5K words) - ~576 stories

Category: Medium-length fic --- (5K–10K words) - ~179 stories

Category: Long Fic --- (10K–20K words) - ~131 stories

Category: Novella --- (20K–50K words) - ~59 stories

Category: Novel --- (word count over 50K) - ~43 stories

Category: Podfic --- ~73 podfics

Category: Poetry --- ~17 poems

Notes on the filters: The fic in these filters (1) is complete and in English, (2) is sorted from oldest to newest, unlike the default AO3 search, to help resurface works forgotten in the past 12 months! [NB: Weirdly, that search parameter vanishes if you edit the filter. To add it back, go to the 'Search within results' field near the bottom of the filter panel and add (without quotes) 'sort:>updated '.] (3) It filters OUT McSpirk (Kirk/Spock/McCoy), a pairing I obviously love as per my own AO3!, but one that usually means the focus isn't on Spirk, which I believe renders it ineligible. And (5) some works are specifically excluded after being accidentally caught in the filter, but any keyword/word count exclusions are not intended to target any individual!

Let me know if you see any major errors, but importantly, you can change any of these parameters using the filter bar on the right side of the page. So you can filter out certain ratings or only include TOS fic or avoid SNW spoilers, etc. (See italicized note above if you make edits and want to keep the oldest-to-newest sort order.)
