second. THE BOW?! HELLO?? he worships him. he just does. like any good husband would.
third. the slipping past one another as close as possible. I see you, alright?!
insane. them and me, because of them.
It's 1986. I'm home sick from school. I put on Raiders of the Lost Ark because it makes me feel good.

gosh okay just watched disclosure day and i have thoughts. and minor spoilers:
1) they did the Catholic stuff almost right. like they were very close and I didn't mind it at all. I can excuse little things for the Nun Chatter
2) Spielberg is having FUN. the upside down turning camera shots etc
3) this movie is soooooo not about aliens. it's about sci-fi, specifically first contact sci-fi, and its tropes. we've got every single one. the aliens are your most bog standard Aliens possible, they execute the most common sci-fi moves (probe, mind reading, shape shifting, possession, etc etc etc), sooooo many inexplicable moments in fields, a Funky Gadget, freaking Homestead Air Force Base (Miami connection woooo), math as universal language, The Evil Feds (thrown together with Out For Himself Dead Wife Dude).
4) and this movie's answer to it all, to all of it, is that humanity is CAPABLE of seeing the universe, and its own ugliness, and able to LISTEN despite all evidence to the contrary. not even the nominal villain will fight to the death to hide the truth. there is no dramatic defeat of him. there is just his own defeat of himself, surrender and acceptance.
5) it was good! i liked it
