creating an altar to yourself: an exercise in manifestation and passive control

recently my best friend told me about a change he made to his personal practice that completely revolutionized the way he felt fortune flowed for him. i've seen people talk about creating an egregore of themselves or their alter ego, but this approach is uniquely secular and occurred completely detached from this online space.

and what was it he did? well, he created an altar to himself.

and i know what that sounds like, but hear me out. this isn't so much an altar of worship or reverence--at least not in the way we think about those things--it's a passive spell that runs in the background, an act of self-care for his past self, boosting his self-confidence for his current self, and manifesting the person he wants to become.

having a digital grimoire on freenotes or your notes app

saving tons of witchcraft related pins on pinterest, swearing that you will "eventually get to copying them into your grimoire". you won't. you have 10k pins in that board that you will never see again

browsing the candle section in shops for half an hour and smelling every single one of them

really into autumn and halloween for obvious reasons, but also because that's the time when shops start to sell more witchy shit

seeing wild animals in the city like !!

digital tarot decks, especially if you are in the broom closet

learning embroidery, and stitching tiny spells or sigils into the hems of your sleeves

buying cheap makeup and nailpolish and making the most out of it with glamor spells

keeping an app on your phone that shows you the phases of the moon

finding old occult books online as pdfs and reading them on your phone instead of scrolling

going thrifting and finding, like, the perfect jar

having to physically restrain yourself from stuffing your pockets with those salt packets that they sell in fastfood places

tea lights and birthday candles for everything. everything can be solved with tealights and birthday candles

sigils hidden in your phone case and wallet against theft or misplacing them

meditating on public transportation

having specific spotify playlists for specific spells or rituals

trying to have as many plants in your home as possible

What it does it turn 1d4 random people into werewolves. You don't get to choose the people. You don't know who the people are. This doesn't benefit you in any way, you might never even know if the spell worked or not. It's just straight-up "I cast ruin four stranger's day for absolutely no reason".
