I liked Ralsei well enough this chapter but there are a few moments they ended up coming off as patronizing or mean (particularly with orange, even if she's not my favorite– which may be a hot take in and of itself– ralsei was still so wrong for that anyway) but I ultimately like that it means they're getting confronted with their flaws. It's good character writing!

I don't think most of my takes are all that hot. I guess I don't think that if rudy or carol is the knight bringing dess back will be their sole aim. In my opinion the knight's main goal would have to be something to do with the prophecy, mostly because if our party is going to try to defy it somehow (which has been hinted at a LOT this whole game is sort of about fate and defying or at least reinterpreting it), it makes sense for the story's main antagonist, the opposing force to then want to directly follow it. Maybe the prophecy needs to happen in order to be able to find dess at all and that's why it needs to be followed, or something like that— but the focus is likely on fulfilling the prophecy. That's why the knight doesn't just make a bunch of fountains in a row to cause the roaring immediately, because other shit from the prophecy has to happen first.

Like. The knight as the antagonist sort of has to enforce the idea of the prophecy (and the idea that your choices don't matter by proxy) which is also yet another reason I find myself doubting Dess theory because I can't really see her occupying that role in the narrative considering the tone and lyrics of raise up your bat? It's got like. a hopeful rebellious fighting for your future vibe not unlike Susie also has.

Also idk what reason she would have to want to fulfill the prophecy. I honestly think the idea that there was a previous party of heroes and she was one of them makes more sense (though I'm not entirely? sold on that either).

I can see carol the most for this mentality, even if I favor rudy as a candidate this aspect would make most sense with what we currently know about Carol and how she operates. but I can maybe kind of see Rudy in it from the sickness angle (maybe no matter what he chooses he's doomed and he's morbidly resigned to it though that's mere speculation). I can even see noelle in this very well too, while I don't think she's the knight from her lack of dark world knowledge. Because of what she mentions in the weird route about feeling stuck all the time. No one ever changing and thus her choices not mattering.

Anyway yeah I used to be very into sofia the first SOLELY because I was into it when I was younger, but then I wasn't allowed to watch it anymore because my parents figured out it had magic, ended up watching it way later when I realized finally could, figured out about cedric the sorcerer being a Really Good character actually and then kept watching mostly for his redemption arc.
