My junior year high school English teacher once said, "How you write is a precursor to how you speak." Sadly, I have noticed this to be true, and it will take me an extra three seconds to process what people are saying to understand them because they speak as if they were on Twitter or Facebook.
While I do enjoy speaking in slang or colloquial terms—"Hewwo uwu," "Wha Happen :0," and "You've yee'd yer last haw"—I do try my best to write coherently and in full sentences in hopes that it will translate into my actual speech patterns. Still there are occasions, rather frequent sadly, where my multiple thoughts run into each other and try to come out all at once making my tongue butcher my own words. Which leads me to: this human body is an inconvenience and I should have been born a jelly fish or a cat.

Accents and patterns of speech to me are so cool to me, but it's so weird for myself bc I was born in the north (USA), and moved to the south (USA) so I have an in-between accent that fluctuates between "HEY Y'ALL HOWSIT GOIN'?" to "Hey you guys :)"
And let's not even start with the random British-esque way I talk on a random day. Like idk if it's just in my genes or some shit but I have to mentally correct myself when I speak out loud bc my brain is all "top of the morning to ya!"

Having weird speech patterns and phrases is all fun and games until you say something like “oh so it’s just asking if you want to hurt the clown” or make a reference to a “full body hug for 8 seconds or longer” with someone new and suddenly it’s a problem

Fyi, I am not, I am Dutch and very much white but I mainly learned English from the internet and Black Americans had a really big influence on my speech pattern.
My speech pattern is wonky in general, it's a mix of American, British and that typical Black American accent.
And it's funny too cause in certain moods, certain accents pop out more? Like my post on menstrual cramps and shit sounds far more like a Black American speech pattern. I think that's one I tend to slip into when I'm in my feels or something? Idk if it's cause the patterns are just better for expressing myself or cause the accent has more similarity to Dutch and that familiarity is comforting. I think the former is more likely.
