Bit of a catch up from recent matches, IAA’s Xmas Fayre on the Isle saw me finish third with one chub and some bits for 3lb 5oz. Another trip to Revels saw me win the silvers on Canal lake with 7lb 8oz of skimmers and roach. Summerhayes was frozen but five mad anglers broke the ice and my two roach was top weight with 6oz! Back to Revels for the Tuesday open and I drew Trendles for the first time, an enjoyable day catching 24lb 6oz of mainly carp but needed another 9lb to frame. I’ve been wanting to fish Acorn Fishery for a while now so when I saw it was the Charlie Barnes memorial silvers match, I booked in. A good turnout of 26 anglers and despite it being bitterly cold, some decent weights were recorded. I caught a big perch plus skimmers, roach and tench for 11lb 4oz and second place behind Martin Rayet who had 13lb. I’ve been gagging to get back to Revels so booked a few Tuesdays off work. There was a great turnout yesterday with 20 booked in and I was over the moon to get drawn peg 20 on Main lake again. It’s probably the best silvers peg on the complex, I had a really nice day catching skimmers, roach, perch, rudd and gudgeon for 12lb 5oz and a silvers win. I’ve caught on maggots over Special G F1 and Dark. Also landed several nuisance carp. I was at Trinity Waters for a Stoke AA club match today and had some nice skimmers and roach for 13lb 11oz but missed out on winning the silvers by just 14oz which seems to the story of my life at the moment. It was the second round of Ruthie’s Cup yesterday at Harry’s, it was my turn to draw in the better section and I was well happy with peg 3. I caught well for the first couple of hours and my 38lb 12oz was only good enough for third, a long way behind Andy Burns who had 99lb. Some more money went in the charity pot too. I love my Tuesday trips to Revels, I just wish I could go every week! It was a scorching day but I drew the best silvers peg on the complex in the shape of 20 on Main. As an added bonus I was in the shade for four hours. I’ve had a bite a chuck all day from skimmers, hybrids, roach, rudd, perch and gudgeon (plus a few carp of course) to finish up with 229 fish for 23lb 6oz and a silvers win.
