As you may know, the Reliance Law Group represents the Southwest Regional Recreation Authority - also known as SPEARHEAD TRAILS. The Clinch Coalition is an environmental group in Wise County. They recently released a report asserting numerous claims against trails - naming Spearhead. Thankfully, after they released this report to the Johnson City Press, the Press met with Spearhead folks, interviewed them, and actually rode the trail to see the trail conditions. We must ensure that the truth is available to everyone and the citizens of the counties of Tazewell, Dickenson, Russell, Lee, Scott, Norton and Wise. Everyone should know Spearhead Trails is an economic development engine that powers our future with new money from outside this region from riders who visit from all over the country. It builds businesses. It is an entity that is environmentally friendly - Spearhead has inherited most of the trails from logging, gas well roads, and old coal roads - some of which were environmental disasters. Spearhead accepted the areas, repaired and continues to maintain them in environmentally friendly ways. Absent Spearhead Trails these locations would continue to suffer from extreme runoff, soil erosion, loss of habitat and outlaw riders with no rules.
