as for your question—personally, i don’t think that would be racist. stereotypes are only so bad as much as they compose a character’s entire personality. a character fitting into a certain set of traits is not INHERENTLY stereotypical, but making that stereotype their entire personality would be. im not sure what the context behind this is—if this is the background of a larger piece of work or something like that—but if you’re asking whether or not making a mad scientist indian would be inherently racist? then yeah, i don’t think so. im not Indian to be clear so I can only speak on it so much, but your question seems to be more about stereotypes than specific culture. if you want to delve into more then im always happy to suggest @writingwithcolor ! their tags are pretty expansive so you shouldn’t have trouble finding more information, but here’s an article on the smart indian trope if you’re interested.
