The spiderlings of a few species of huntsman spiders in this genus are green, but the adults are not.

Not all spiders are architects, but the ones that are take architecture to the extreme! Female rain spiders are known for constructing elaborate egg sacs from webbing and leaf litter; these sacs can reach up to 10 cm (3.9 in) in diameter, and are suspended away from nearby branches. It can take a female 5 hours to construct her nest, and once it's done she guards it fiercely from any would-be trespassers.

hello my dears... giant huntsman spider named after david bowie
ive been wanting to see this guy for a while now... its the david bowie's huntsman
its a distinct huntsman easily recognised by its colouration and its long hairs. the arachnologist who named this spider did so after the patterns on its face resembling david bowie's makeup (though the facial patterns arent super clear here sadly)
I mentioned I’d left out a huntsman spider I saw in Malaysia in the post below, and here it is! I spotted it on a rock beneath a small cave or overhang while on a night walk.
more sparassids, these are from Singapore. the little snowflake on the right is a very young Heteropoda davidbowie, but the rest I can only
this one had everything; legspan, “teleportation” speed, and gorgeous colors. didn’t like me very much, though!
if you notice that its left leg 3 is slightly shorter and a different color, that’s most likely because it was lost a few molts ago, but grew back over the course of said molts & is almost good as new.
