Chapter One: Welcome to Riverdale
The misty morning air was cold against her face as she stepped out of the old trailer she now called home, her big blue eyes taking in the sights in front of her as she lit a cigarette. Kids were running around carefree play fighting with sticks, birds were flying and chirping overhead, and a handful of leather clad 20 somethings seemed to be lost in conversation, surely planning something, god only knew what. As she took a drag of her cig she scanned the group, three guys and a girl, she let her mind wander, wondering what it was about them that peaked her interest, maybe it’s the motorcycles or the matching jackets they were all clad in, maybe it was the fact that all of them were ridiculously attractive. For some reason unknown to her she felt drawn to them, but this was not the time to try and make friends, she had much bigger issues to deal with.
“Why the fuck am I only attracted to people who look like a bad decision? Bitch pull yourself together and for the love of god stop staring” she thought to herself, scolding her own thoughts. As if on cue all heads in the group turned to look at her, shifting uncomfortably under their gaze, each pair of eyes felt like they were burning a hole through her black sweater. She readjusted her stance and flicked her eyes back down to her cigarette trying her best to look unaffected by the continuing stares. “What the fuck are they looking at? Fuck is something on my face?” She thought, unconsciously running a hand through her hair. When she gathered the courage to look back up she found them back to discussing whatever issue they were trying to tackle earlier, as she scanned the group she met the eyes of the tallest guy. He was attractive that's for sure, dark raven hair that fell into one perfectly formed curl in the center of his forehead, what looked like a tattoo of a snake inked on his neck, leather jacket spread across his broad shoulders, paired with the black t shirt, black jeans and black combat boots completing his "I don't give a fuck about you or anyone else" look he was so clearly working. He caught her staring and gave her a smirk she didn't want to admit made her knees weak, determined to not let this nameless stranger see he affected her she rolled her eyes and sauntered off taking another drag of her cig.
She walked around to the side of her trailer where she had set up her patio furniture, it was an old table and chair set, iron that had been painted white at least two decades ago, the paint was old and peeling, the furniture was probably twice her age it had been her great grandmothers long before she was ever born but she adored it, the furniture she had from her great grandmother was one of the last connections to any happy memories she had left. As she sat down to smoke she let her mind wander, thoughts racing about her life, where she came from, and how the hell she ended up here....
Of all places to end up hiding out she could've done better, sure, but she also could've done a hell of a lot worse than this little town called Riverdale. There wasn't much to the place, so far she noticed a drive in movie theatre, a run down looking bar near her trailer called the Whyte Wyrm, and something called a choc-lit shoppe? It was a weird little town, it seemed to be tucked away in its own little dimension neither here nor there, suck in the past but still somehow part of the present. It had a quality about it like it held a secret that only she had the answer to and she was drawn to it. So she stayed, she hadn't meant to, she was planning on driving even further away desperate to get as much distance between her and her old life as possible but when she drove past the Riverdale town sign it was like something clicked.
She stayed in a hotel for the first few days until she saw a flyer advertising a trailer for rent, the owner Joaquin seemed very eager for her to take it off his hands, not asking any questions, seemingly in a hurry to get the hell out of dodge. Not that she minded she didn't particularly want anyone digging into her life or asking questions she didn't have the answers to yet. A loud clap of thunder ripped her from her thoughts, she took one final drag of her cig before stomping it out and heading inside, stepping through the door just in time as the heavens opened open up and water drenched everything in sight. "Welcome to Riverdale" she muttered to herself, letting the door to her new home slam shut behind her.
