This Southern-style hot dog chili made in a slow cooker is thick, flavorful, and great for topping your favorite hot dogs. The slow cooking and mix of spices make the flavors go well together, making it a favorite among many.

Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef. 1 onion, finely chopped. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce. 1 can 6 oz tomato paste. 2 tablespoons chili powder. 1 tablespoon brown sugar. 1 teaspoon ground cumin. 1 teaspoon smoked paprika. 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional. Salt and black pepper to taste.

Instructions: Put the ground beef in a pan and cook it over medium-low heat until it turns brown. Add the minced garlic and chopped onions and keep cooking until the onions become clear. Put the slow cooker on high and add the cooked beef mixture. For example, you could put in chili powder, brown sugar, ground cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and tomato sauce. Mix things together well. To taste, add salt and black pepper. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours, stirring every now and then. Once it's done, taste it and add more seasoning if needed. Then serve it over hot dogs.
