♒ — It was yet another awful day Rin had to endure. But he did the best he could despite how horrible he felt, and there was no way he was going to let it show once he got home to Lauren and Russell. No way, those two been nothing but supportive and encouraging, making sure he was at home, cooking him his favorite foods, buying him things and helping with whatever he needed.
He did appreciate their love, and support and consideration; but it wasn’t the same. He missed his mom and sister. He missed his friends back home. And he missed Sousuke most of all.
His best friend who was always there for him, even though he acted like a totally butt sometimes but Sousuke never left his side.
And being so far away from him was so tough too. He didn’t have anyone to play with (other than Winnie, but she doesn’t count), no one to talk to or anything. Sure, he talked to a few kids in school, and some at the swimming practice…but it wasn’t he same and it made him really sad.
Leaving school and heading home, Rin contemplated again if coming here was such a good idea. There were lots of great swimming schools and centers back in Japan, and he would be with his friends. But he knew that coming here was a great opportunity that not many will get in their life, so he had to be grateful for it too.
Reaching home, he smiled happily at his stay at home parents, talked with them for a little bit before heading to his room. God, he hated lying to them but he didn’t want them to worry about him.
He sat by his desk, getting ready to study when he noticed an envelope on the surface. His eyes lit up when he saw who its from and quickly grabbed for it. Homework could wait.
Rin immediately ripped the envelope and took out the letter. His little gaze scanned the words, reading it over and over…and with each time he read it, tears formed in his eyes. He sniffled, but he held a large grin and all the horrible feelings he was having earlier, momentarily disappeared as he read Sousuke’s letter.
It wasn’t a long letter, and it was just so simple…but so Sousuke. And if that butthead thought he didn’t understand the last three words despite the scratching over them, he was stupid.
He sighed, a longing gave over his features as his tears slowly fell.
He should write him a letter too, but not right now…he had homework and Lauren was calling him for dinner.
Sousuke was so going to get it.
