For such a large, lumbering man, one wouldn't expect him to speak as gently as Ser Duncan the Tall did. At least, that had been the impression brought upon the aspiring squire. It wasn't as if the man had snuck up on him entirely. Merely...he had not expected it to be him. He swears he's going to kick himself later for baring steel at the knight in response to his alarm; hedge knight or no, it was without decorum to raise arms against any Sers caught off guard. He only hopes his feeble attempt at an apology is enough for the man. But now, a curious thing...for here he is offering his services to the man without title. Was he not otherwise occupied? He had only emerged from Lord Baratheon's pavilion not a moment ago, and sounds of merriment still seeped from the tent's walls. Whyever would one bother with him when there was glory and celebration to be had around a fellow knight's table?
"You're kind to offer, Ser, but I well know that no one leaves the Laughin' Storm's pavilion without some manner o' drink in 'em. I wouldn't have you swingin' about a sword when your aim's not true." A simple excuse to grab. Of course, there had been a host of knights that could handle their ale in one hand and a sword in the other, but it wasn't about that, not really. Mostly, he itched to know why the other had sought him out, and the only way he could figure such a thing was to prod at him some. It wasn't very kind, he knew this...but even he couldn't accept a man's offer at face value. "That aside, you've the lists to attend to on the morrow, d'you not? I'd not want to take up any more time that could be spent drownin' your sorrows or...perhaps more responsibly, gettin' some proper shut-eye."
