rereading Dawn of Everything and i think still the most important takeaway i have from the book still is the idea that the most important freedom is the freedom to change the way you are living.
one of the things i love is when you learn something that reveals that youve been holding an arbitrary default assumption your entire life because you couldn't concieve of an alternative. Dawn of Everything's big lightbulb moment for me was in the chapter about seasonal government: prior to that moment, i had assumed that a system of government had to be built with a goal of permanence. but that just isn't true.
