Inktober day 8: Remembering the Sonoma fires.

This was a request from a dear friend who lost her home in Santa Rosa, California during the Tubbs fire one year ago. For many people, including my friend, an orphaned hearth and chimney stack was all that remained of their homes. For some, it is all that still remains.

The cat and the hen are symbolic for me, as they represent all the comforts of home. They wait on the hearth, surrounded by the regrowth of flowers and grass, as a reminder of what has been lost and what can be regained.

Irony Strikes California

So it turns out that the California Wildfires that have destroyed the Sonoma Wine Country area and killed 40 residents were caused by an illegal immigrant.

ICE has issued a detainer request for Jesus Fabian Gonzolez, a homeless person who started the fire. He is currently in jail with bail set at $110,000.

California is a “sanctuary state” and Sonoma is a “Sanctuary County” which will not cooperate with federal authorities when it comes to deporting criminal illegal aliens.

So now California is in a huge pickle. Cooperate with ICE and go against your own stupid Sanctuary State policies or protect the arsonist who killed 40 of your LEGAL residents.

To further complicate matters, President Donald Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions have put forth legislation that will deny federal funding to cities and states with “sanctuary” policies; however, California Governor Jerry Brown is already requesting federal funds for a disaster that was caused by an illegal immigrant that was only there because of his own policies!!

You can’t write this stuff, folks.
