It pulls a string in his heart, and even after that argument you two had, he’s still a good man at heart and loves you deeply. Walking over with heavy steps to the couch where you soundlessly slept in front of the tv, all curled up in your plush sweater, bends down to carefully pick you up from the couch. Easily so, because of his strength, and carries you bridal style in his arms, warmed by the blood in his muscle.

He feels bad that your argument had to come to this, not that he ever liked arguing or having a misunderstanding with you in the first place. But his usual calmness set you off as you were deeply irritated about an issue, fueling your frustration as Chads usual calm demeanor was mistaken for disinterest or unconcern in the moment, leading to this. But none of that mattered when Chad saw you like this, curled up alone on the couch with dry tears on your face, when it didn’t need to come to that.

A short Mermaid au with Mermaid Furina!MC.

Basically, Focalors accidentally makes Furina!MC a mermaid when 'creating' her and decides to toss her away as a failure.

She needed a puppet with working legs, not a fish tail that couldn't be rid of!

Cue Mermaid Furina!MC existing quietly in Fontaine's waters for many years after that, living there without detection... until she happens to come across a distressed Melusine and saves her.

Cut to that same Melusine telling Neuvillette later on about her being saved by a pretty 'fish lady' who looked kinda like Lady Canon!Furina, and because of this Neuvillette decides to go hunting.

He does end up finding the pretty 'fish lady' that really did looked like the former Archon. (I'm imagining this happens sometime AFTER the prophecy, so Canon!Furina is no longer Archon)

It took a long time, and a LOT of effort, but Neuvillette gains Furina!MC's trust, and eventually, even her affection.

And this affection ultimately evolves into something bigger. Something more precious than any treasure found on the sea floor...

They were going to have a child.

This ends up pushing Neuvillette into a worried frenzy. He couldn't stand the idea of being away from his pregnant mate, as unlike him, couldn't change her form to walk on land so she couldn't leave the sea, so he has a massive aquarium set up in both his office and bedroom.

There, he can make sure Mermaid Furina!MC was safe and sound during her pregnancy, and that he could be close by if something happened.

Of course, Mermaid Furina!MC pouted at his antics. She missed the freedom of open waters, but she accepted the situation as she was scared as well.

This was her first child, and she shared the feeling of wanting to be close to her mate as possible during her pregnancy...

And so, if one was to enter Neuvillette's office in the near future, don't be shocked by the massive aquarium near the wall... or a plump looking Mermaid sleeping within it.
