Why do Layton hints start as passive-aggressive to then develop into straight up insults?

For thos that don't know the game: you basically write a prompt for a drawing, and the prompt goes to another player, who will draw it as best as they can, and then the drawing goes to ANOTHER player who has to fuess what the prompt was. The prompt guessed by that player will go to somebody else, and the games continues like that till everyone has drawn something.
@saturnian-morphy had pointed this out to me before, but drawing Clark yesterday reminded me:

Ignoring the fact whenever books can be considered canon or no, I love how Luke just casually goes around with a super bouncy ball in his pocket. Does this mean he had one with himself too during the entire 6 games?

Considering that Unwound Future's last puzzle (As in, last litteraly the last one, not the one at the end of the gameplay) it's the mechanism to turn on the time machine that killed Claire, would that mean that Bill Hawks was a master at sliding puzzles? Or did Claire have to wait for hom to finish?
I swear I felt victory's sweet taste in my mouth when I ACTUALLY got Aunt Taffy to give Emmy some candies. Most satisfing moment in the series
