Thank you for the tag @lagunapoint !! I've only been getting inspiration for my Back to the Future fic recently, even though I've got a few WIPs both published and unpublished.
Mel listened to Ellana interrogate Solas until the shadows grew long across the courtyard. It was probably rude of Mel to sit in so long on a private conversation, but she justified it to herself that when her existence was allegedly on the line, a few allowances could be made. Her mother’s inquisitive nature endeared Solas to her, and their debates surrounding elven culture only occasionally became slightly antagonistic, usually with Solas making the allowance of the fluid and fragmentary nature of history that Ellana often insisted on. A few times, Mel caught the subtle changes of the current Ellana with the mamae that raised her. Age, and perhaps parenthood, had mellowed Ellana. She was like a bright spark, talking so fast in her passion and then slowing down when she realized she was nearly unintelligible. For the first time, Mel felt optimistic about getting to know her mamae more. Actually, she hungered for it. When it came time for the evening meal, Mel was sure they left the garden together.
