It's actually so ideologically important to me that solarpunk aesthetics don't fall into the trap of just being "cottagecore with a bit of technology"
Finally finding out what this Solarpunk illustration I drew for @andrew-ism back in February is for. It's featured in this video :D I have yet to watch it but I trust it'll be good.
This is meant to be a mall that's been repurposed by and for the community, turned from a place of consumption into a great hangout spot where you can chill, have a meal, borrow some books or tools, exchange out clothes you don't wear for ones you like better and let another person take yours etc.
You can find the full-res version at the Story Seed Library.
(In hindsight, could've filled that elevator wall with more art...I also feel like I could've done more research for the whole piece, but at this point it is what it is).
The most cringe part of the people currently criticizing Solarpunk so much in the tag is, that they all clearly have never even bothered to look into Solarpunk. Like, at all. They do not know the Solarpunk Manifesto. The history of it. They do not understand the context of the Punkpunk genre. And they cannot even be bothered to watch a 5 minute youtube video.
But also... they cannot even be bothered to look at the actual art. They will all go: "Oh, Solarpunk is like a white ethnofascist thing that does not care about logistics." Meanwhile if you look up actual Solarpunk art either on Solarpunk Seed Library, or at one of the many contests from the last couple years, you see this:
I mean, hell. Even the darn Chobani commercial is actually quite divers. Like, we can talk about Capitalist Realism and all that, but you definitely cannot claim that this commercial is white centric, given that the "Alice" of the title in the commercial is a dark-skinned little girl with curly hair.
Really, people. You are literally embarrassing yourselves, if you have the constant need to have an opinion and cannot even be assed to actually google for like one minute.
Sustainable fashion for the Solar Punk

Just finished customizing another bag 🕸❤️
It was a blank black canvas bag before. Found it at the dollar store. This was IMMENSELY fun to do.
I bought the resist and persist patch at a pride festival last week, I used silver studs, safety pins and bits of ribbon and trim from my scrap pile. The ankh patch was handmade by me, same with the green and white swirly one at the top. And I attached a little Halloween crow skull pendant as well as a faux flower branch to the zipper pull with silver wire, black thread and superglue to really make sure it doesnt come off. I am SO proud of this
*****
[Image ID: five images of a small flat black canvas shoulder bag with a soft black rope strap customized to all hell. On the side with the zipper, there's a black patch with a white embroidered ankh symbol in the middle under the zipper. The patch is stitched with white embroidery thread onto a slightly larger green camouflage fabric patch, and there's black lace trim sewn onto the sides of the entire green patch. Right underneath and right above the zipper are metal studs lining it, and in the smaller area above the zipper there's a green camo patch with a swirl spiral pattern painted on it in white and that same black trim surrounding it.
On the other side, (with no zipper) there's a very large patch with a gray wolf on it and white words that say "resist, persist" and it's stitched onto the bag with white embroidery thread. The eyes are silver but they look white in the pictures. On the top and bottom of the patch is black and white checkerboard ribbon, and on the very top and bottom of the bag there's studs lining the edges. Theres safety pins scattered around the edges of both main patches, but not the swirl one.
The zipper pull is black with a plastic bone colored crow skull pendant attached to it with wire and thread, as well as a fake plastic sprig of white flowers and green leaves attached the same way. The flowers and leaves are glued in place to prevent accidentally littering and losing flowers.
All metal components are silver. The safety pins, wire, studs. The zipper itself is black. End ID]
I forgot to post this here omg. I made this hair clip using this chip I found broken on the ground. I was assuming it was a super busted thumb drive , but a discord mutual suggested it might be part of an Arduino or similar device!! Lmk if you know what it is !! But yeah I'm enjoying making trinkets w repurposed tech, I also made some w key caps from a busted keyboard, pics of that later. Not a super original concept, but it's a fun idea to mess w! And reduces waste :))
